I only ask as they seem to have a special relationship with european countries & some of their teams play in the champioms league , which really is european?please enlighten me , they seem to have the best of both.

But Israel plays in European leagues because their peace partners will not accept them.

Israel is in Asia not Europe. Yes there is a special relationship between most European countries and Israel. It is the place where they can dump their Jewish population without seeming to much the bigot.

Is the United States? NO! Israel is the only democratic country in the Middle East which is why it has a special relationship with Europe and the US. Ailso, you don't want to mess with one of the strongest militaries and best intelligence services in the world. You want them on your side.

No, Israel is not part of the EU. Because of cultural and economic ties and because of the historical circumstances that drove many Israeli families from Europe into Palestine, Israel has a unique status in the world in a lot of ways.

No they aren't in the EU, but like Turkey, they have a "Special Relationship."

Basically, they are non-voting semi-members.
