The husband of a friend was just shipped over to Iraq for a 15-month assignment. Understandably, my friend is having a rough time with it, and wants to keep herself busy to help make the time go faster.

My husband suggested that she regularly prepare care packages for him, because the receipt of correspondence or a package that reminds him of home were the things that were most important to HIM when he was overseas.

Assuming that's true, what do soldiers in the field most want to receive? Is there anything you can think of that is difficult to get in Iraq, that is legal to send from the U.S. (so forget the alcohol and porn suggestions) and that would really make a soldier's day? Candy? Soap? Magazines? Pictures? Crosswords? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Also, with email so readily accessable, are hand-written letters still appreciated?

And finally, to those of you who have served (or are serving) our country, a heart-felt THANK YOU!

I'm very curious on what all ou anti-war people think pulling out of iraq will help? its going to be another repeat of vietnam, when we pull out civil war will ensue and massive killings will start. the kurds, shiiats and suniis will not live in peace and there scuiced bombings have proved this many times, so how will pulling out help any thing? think a little bit about it we messed up iraq no doubt but to destroy some thing and leave it there to suffer and die is worse then stay and help the best we can. I just want to hear all your pacifistic bull because it seems to me that you all are very hipocritical because how will peace happen if we pull out?

The last one was just before the last presidential elections.
I miss that because I would coordinate my dress to the color of the day.

I'll try to keep simple.

Person A (Great credit, does not speak/read English fluently)
Person B ( Supposed to be "financial advisor")
Person A trusts person B - always the problem.

Person A signed paperwork to refinance home. ( or so they thought). Person B is helping out and takes person A to bank to finalize refinancing.

Sometime later... Person A does not hear from bank, finds out they signed paperwork for loan (only person A listed on loan), but where person B has access to money and is able to sign checks and spend the money - good percentage of loan is gone.

As I see it - Person A was scammed. But not quite ID'd theft since they signed the paperwork.

Now what? Does Person A have any legal recourse against Person B? I am open to suggestions... Thx.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the pro-Bush Sarkozy became French President? That would make the neo-cons eat their words.

I, personally, think we should be taking better care of our vets (this is NOT a reference to the VA's)... In my opinion those who have served in a foreign war should be receiving more money when they retire and that the families of those that lost their life should be better taken care of as well... what are your opinions on this? and what are some plausible ways to enact such a measure?

Did AhmadinejadI really say that? And if he did, why is the US so preoccuied with this fact. It seems that we woud be going to war just to protect Israel since Iran has never threated the US to my knowledge.

There doesn't seem to be any good choices to vote for in 2008. And the current leadership uses cash to talk. And some countrys are asking for to much which makes the world unstable.

Dude... Someone said we aren't allowed to ask questions about people unless we know them. I was just wondering if that was true. If that were the case, we are all in violation of TOS.

A friend of mine has joined as principal in a yet to be launched school in India. One fine day, she was told by the schools' administrative director that no one will pick you up. same day he sent some of her things and pay cheque. she was associated with the school since last two months. can any organisation just throw out its employee without any reason. Its sheer exploitation. Is there any law to save teachers and other staff from such kind of behaviour. The schools are using many malpractices to exploit academic staff. Its sheer irony that the temple of education is using such tectics on the people who touch future. And we say that education empowers! does it really?
I want to know if teachers and other academic staff in a school is protected against such behavior under the law. i am based in ahmedabad, and keen to set up a free legal cell specially for teachers who are a exploited lot in the schools run by family trusts. Please help.
