I, personally, think we should be taking better care of our vets (this is NOT a reference to the VA's)... In my opinion those who have served in a foreign war should be receiving more money when they retire and that the families of those that lost their life should be better taken care of as well... what are your opinions on this? and what are some plausible ways to enact such a measure?

I don't think you can put a price on service in the military. Sure, our soldiers and vets could use more money but how do we decide who gets what? I think our soldiers deserve more respect then what they are given. I know when I go to the ER and I tell them the type of insurance I have (tricare Prime), they roll their eyes at me and I am there for at least 8 hours with 2 very sick children. That's the kind of crap that needs to stop.

I think the military (for the most part) takes care of us pretty well. I am able to stay home with my 2 children and we aren't "hurting" by any means. I do feel for the soldiers (and their families) that are just starting out, working their way up. I really don't know how they make it.

100% agreed. I wanna know why we spend so much on Iraq people when we have homeless vets in USA? Why do they need billions, why not use their own oil money to rebuild their country? Why do we chip in to S.America and stuff when our soldiers make crap money, vets have to go thru 345,000 hurdles to get their benies?

We made a deal with these people fight for us and we will take care of you....they held up their end and we are reneging on our side!

My step-father is a veteran of Korean conflict. He seems real happy with his level of compensation, but we do have an excellent VA hospital here.

I am willing to pay more taxes to help them out.

Definitely agree with you on this matter but I am unsure as to how to make a change. I would be 100% behind whatever action is needed or taken on this matter.

As a Vietnam vet, I'd be more than happy to take your money.

The first act is to elect a president who is less willing to spend
on war and more willing to give to those who fought his war. Nothing will change untill that happens. But I agree with you thoroughly.

I agree. The vets sacrificed so much for us.

Both sides of the aisle need to step up when it comes to our veterans.

Can't disagree with you, but I have a caveat....

Don't overlook the fact that there are many people who are dedicated to doing just that.
