Wouldn't it be ironic if the pro-Bush Sarkozy became French President? That would make the neo-cons eat their words.

I think its going to be very close. If all those who voted for the 2 main candidates in the first round stick with them and if Royal picks up all of voters who voted for François Bayrou and if Sarkozy picks up all the voters who voted for Le Pen - then Sarkozy will win by a couple of percentage points. That is a lot of "ifs" though, and I doubt whether it will be as simple as that..

I tend to think that Bayrou's voters will be much more likely to vote for Royal, than Le Pens are to vote for Sarkozy. Then you have to factor in the minor candidates - many of whom were left wing. Also those who voted in the first round but may not in the second have to be considered.

I think Royal might just win through, but its really too close to call.

Why would it make the neo-cons eat their words?

It's not the neo-cons who are claiming that Bush's foreign policy is alienating the world.

LMAO. How does it feel to score an own goal?

Sarkozy in all likelihood will. Royal definately should, France has been conservative for too long and it needs a change of direction. Britain's fortunes turned around when the conservatives were ousted after twenty years of being in power, France could do ceratinly with new ideas to deal with the problems the conservatives have given it.

Not sure who will win, not sure who I prefer.

Royale might be better for the UK in long run as it might make us face up to the fact we are in a superstate.

Sarkozy might be bad as the French will be expected to work for a living, the resulting strikes are likely to see British animal exports burnt alive in their transport again!!
The French haven't paid a penny in compensation for the last lot, the British tax payer compensated the UK farmers for their losses.
