Vietnam war had it's Ho Chi Ming trail which was almost entirely enclosed by thick jungle which made it very difficult to attack effectively, but there is no where to hide in the Iraqi desert. There's just rock and sand. So why is it so relatively easy for the insurgents to get resupplied and if the US can't stop them from getting resupplied how can they ever win the war in Iraq?

I really need some help from a legal eagel. I think I am being framed. An ex of mine has reported to the police that I stole somehting from him. The only problem is he gave me the thing he said I stole, but I have a feeling all evidence will point to me, I think I am being set up by him.
I have the police interview soon, and I dont have any proof that I didn't do this in a bad manner, it'll be my word against his. I have never been in trouble with the law before. I am a good person and I loved thisd guy once, I can't believe he's being so melicious as to do this to me and it's just so awful.
Can anyone offer me some advice on the best way to deal with this? I also cannot afford a solicitor can anyone reccomend someone free in the uk?

When President Bush entered Lance Cpl. Chad Watson's hospital room, the young Marine wanted to stand and shake his hand.

Just standing is quite a feat when you have just one leg and your foot is in a cast.

Supporting himself on a walker, Watson reached out his hand but immediately lost his balance and grabbed the walker.

"The second time I went off balance again," said Watson, 23. "My brother (Brandon) saw what I was trying to do and grabbed me under my arm. That stabilized me enough to shake the president's hand."

Surrounded by family members, Watson stood upright as a fellow Marine read his Purple Heart commendation, and the president pinned the medal on his blouse.

"It was all his upper body strength," said his father, Mike Watson. "There wasn't a dry eye in the house."

Then, the president said, "Lance Cpl. Watson, I command you to sit down."

"With a smile on his face, of course," Watson said.

Mike and Gina Watson said the president and first lady Laura Bush spent about 15 minutes with their family, which included Brandon, a Mount Zion High School sophomore, and Amy, a sophomore at Northern Illinois University. His other sister, Lindsey Damery, a nurse who helped Chad Watson tremendously while hospitalized, was unable to attend.

When Chad Watson asked the president if he had a few minutes to sign autographs for his siblings, he replied, "I'll sign all day for you."

A three-star general in the president's entourage told Chad Watson that he planned to tell the Marine commandant that a young Marine who was missing one leg, with the other injured, had made the effort to stand for the president.

"That is something I am most proud of," Chad Watson said.

Clinton and the Democrats refused to give free healthcare to all Americans. They controlled the White House, Senate, and House during Clinton's first 2 years.

Yet they did NOT pass such a bill.

Amazingly, under Bush, Democrats have been squawking about not having universal healthcare.

Shouldn't Democrats castricize Clinton and their own party for this failure? No one forced them NOT to pass the bill. It was their own choice.

The Sands of Christmas
by Michael Marks

I had no Christmas spirit when I breathed a weary sigh,
And looked across the table where the bills were piled too high.
The laundry wasn't finished and the car I had to fix,
My stocks were down another point, the Chargers lost by six.

And so with only minutes till my son got home from school,
I gave up on the drudgery and grabbed a wooden stool.
The burdens that I carried were about all I could take,
And so I flipped the TV on to catch a little break.

I came upon a desert scene in shades of tan and rust,
No snowflakes hung upon the wind, just clouds of swirling dust.
And where the reindeer should have stood before a laden sleigh,
Eight Humvees ran a column right behind an M1A.

A group of boys walked past the tank, not one was past his teens,
Their eyes were hard as polished flint, their faces drawn and lean.
They walked the street in armor with their rifles shouldered tight,
Their dearest wish for Christmas, just to have a silent night.

Other soldiers gathered, hunkered down against the wind,
To share a scrap of mail and dreams of going home again.
There wasn't much at all to put their lonely hearts at ease,
They had no Christmas turkey, just a pack of MREs.

They didn't have a garland or a stocking I could see,
They didn't need an ornament--they lacked a Christmas tree.
They didn't have a present even though it was tradition,
The only boxes I could see were labeled "ammunition."

I felt a little tug and found my son now by my side,
He asked me what it was I feared, and why it was I cried.
I swept him up into my arms and held him oh so near,
And kissed him on the forehead as I whispered in his ear.

"There's nothing wrong, my little son, for safe we sleep tonight,
Our heroes stand on foreign land to give us all the right,
To worry on the things in life that mean nothing at all,
Instead of wondering if we will be the next to fall."

He looked at me as children do and said, "It's always right,
To thank the ones who help us and perhaps that we should write."
And so we pushed aside the bills and sat to draft a note,
To thank the many far from home and this is what we wrote:

"God bless you all and keep you safe and speed your way back home.
Remember that we love you so, and that you're not alone.
The gift you give you share with all, a present every day,
You give the gift of liberty and that we can't repay."

Michael Marks: "I freely submit this poem for reprint without reservation--this is an open and grateful tribute to the men and women who serve every day to keep our nation safe."

I hear people say "well, now that we went in there and started this thing we have to finish it". Do you believe that the US started the rift in Iraq? Do you believe we need to 'solve' it? IS there a 'solution'? And what does it look like? Thoughtful answers appreciated...

The bus stop is used during the day by normal bus travellers but when it starts getting dark it turns in to a local hanging around place for youths who use it as shelter and light. But they are loud and have caused some minor damaged and some nights keep us awake untill the early hours. I cannot confront them or ask them to be quiet or move on as they will no doubt turn on me or my house !! What can i do?? This problem is shared by my neighbours around the bus stop as well .

I know--they don't want to give up their homeland, right? But wouldn't it be simpler to just move to Lebanon, Jordan, or Egypt and get it over with? Why would that be so bad? That's where their refugee relatives are, anyway. Maybe they could just become citizens of those countries. BTW, I am NOT pro Israel just by asking this question--I am sincerely curious.

NO!!!! I don't want to know what it means, what I would like to know is,, If you really were found guilty of killing someone, (who was in fact not dead) served your time (ie 10-15 years) came out of prison, found them and killed them. Could you or could you not be charged with their murder? Not guesses please, hard facts if you have them. Thanks

Clinton signed NAFTA and gave Permanent MFN to China. That sent all of our jobs overseas.

Then Clinton tripled illegal immigration. That drove wages through the floor.

Then Clinton signed welfare reform to put lazy Democrats back to work.

Wow. You would have sworn Clinton was a Republican. Oddly, Dems view him as a hero even though he screwed them by going against the working man.
