Well I personally wasn't- but my son was and hear is what a mother's point of view is- if you care to hear it! I had all these terrible nightmares of terrible things happening to him like the stuff you see on a t.v. I cried everyday that I thought about him if I looked at any pictures of him I got very depressed. He would call once in awhile and if I missed the call I felt almost suicidal, I wrote him long, long letters pouring out my emotions and hopes for him when he got out, He was only 19 when he was in and after I went to visit him for the first time- he was a six hour drive from where we live, I felt much relief to see that the prison he was in wasn't anything like what t.v shows. He passed through a couple of those on his way to the final one (scare tactic I think) but he is out now and he was doing really good when he first came home- but he should have moved to a different place because he fell back into his old habits and his old self!

Ive never been in prison, but my husband spent 9 months in a level 2 facility, for HTV...Habitual Traffic Violater..Level 2 is for murderers, child molesters, etc...He said it was horrible..The women guards would watch them shower, people were being murdered, and the hospital care is the worst ever...The people just dont care, but of course level 2 prisoners are there for a long time..

I spent 20 months in Prison in Okla-coma for forgery. What was it like you ask?
Eating food that the box is stamped with "FOR INMATE CONSUMPTION ONLY," I lived with mice, lice and staph infections. Showers were covered in mold. But, when the Feds came to inspect, they gave us paint that came off in a week, just wanted it covered for the inspection. Guards were crooked, wow, imagine that. All the clothing had holes in them. Fights all of the time. Very noisy, women complaining constantly. Food was horrible and not identifiable. If you had money sent from home, you had it a little easier. Bartering was our exchange system, and totally against the rules. Drugs were everywhere, smuggled in during visitation. Yuk! All in all it is an experience I won't forget and taught me not to break the laws again. Hell, no one wants to go to prison. At the Fed., prisons, equipment of exercising, cable TV, a good library. And you can get an Associate degree, but the prison/state doesn't pay for it. Your family does. And only a very small amount were accepted on account of not having enough space. If you have any other questions - email me and I'll be happy to answer.

I was never in prison, but I have a friend that is in Tennesee State Prison for life. I won't go into what he did, but he says that after you get used to it it's not so bad.

yep i go there almost everyday and then i go home at the end of the day. i work at one and yeah its a great job but on that same note, we are the inmates too, except on the other side of the bars. if you give someone respect they will give it back to you. the smell is not that great and there is no a/c but other than that it is not a place that i want to be other than to draw a paycheck

My friend was in for 2yrs. It is a disgrace. The guards are so crooked they should be the inmates They steal. sell drugs and blackmail the inmates They also killed a few inmates in the box for no reason and the State lets them get away with it.

Yes. It's boring. The one I was in wasn't as bad as what you see on TV. But it was still pretty bad. No murders or midnight Rape but plenty of fist fights..... I was in for 7 months for possesion when I was 17
