MY home state of Florida has a silly constitutional amendment that says you can't tether your pigs. Wow! Why would anyone want to tie up their pig is beyond me and what would be the problem if they did?

How are you celebrating "Australia Day"?

Having a tinny or two and watching the Cricket?
Putting your feet up and chillin' with the Mrs?
Maybe head down to Darling Harbour for the fireworks later?

Doing something uniquely "Australian"?
Perhaps something a bit "partriotic"?

My family and I will be heading to Canberra. We cannot afford such a trip (from Bundaberg, Qld), but the issues at stake are too important to ignore any longer....
It appears Mr Howard needs a personal visit.

Does it really matter now what colour the curtains are, I mean I would prefer a change as obviously red, blue, yellow is exactly the same give or take a few p on the pound.
Politics in the UK like the rest of the western world is now more or less solely about how to keep wealth vis each other and especially vis developing challengers. The elite have the wealth which they graciously share with their supporters managers etc but the institutions that make up society and really matter like NHS etc carry on degrading.
So does it matter what colour the curtains are or what animal craps in the white house?

Safe inside a locker in the district policeheadquarters in east Delhi, lies Anju Ilyasi's story: What marriage to theman she loved meant to her, her ecstasy on giving birth to a beautifuldaughter, her frustration on being neglected by Suhaib Ilyasi and not beingable to pursue a career, her apprehensions about the other women in herhusband's life and finally, the last words capturing the final moments ofdesperation.
n her diary, Anju blames Suhaib for harassing and torturing her every timeshe committed a mistake at home, when the food was not ready when he camehome and when she questioned him when he came home late. ``He is alwayslooking for an excuse to get angry on me,'' she once wrote.
There are instances where an angry Anju has unabashedly abused Suhaib. Onesuch entry reads: ``Kamina....rakshas...uska sapna hai ki woh mujhenaukrani banake rakhe. Mein aise nahin hone dungee.'' (He thinks he cankeep me like a servant in his house. I will not let it happen.)
At several places, she had accused Suhaib of not giving her money to meether personal expenses while he apparently spent a lot of money on his owntrips abroad.

I arrived in the USA during the Christmas holidays to visit some friends (who are American) and when I was asked by the immigration officer to provide details on my whereabouts in the USA, I told him at the Hilton Hotel, Dallas Tx. He then told me to sit down which was for 1 hour almost and told me to go to a room for additional questioning. I asked him why? and the he became very rude and irate cause I asked! Anyway, I proceeded to the room and then he said that I look like a terrorist and seem to be looking unusual in appearance cause I have a beard and wore a USA shirt.

I know this guy is not representing America and he obviously has some serious issues but my trip was to be a happy one with friends who i studied with and ended up with humiliation. I can understand the profiling and I have no problem with it but to be humiliated is something else! what should i do? i got his immigaration tage number and name.

She is already in bed (figure of speech) with Hugo Chavez, What’s to stop her from (if she hasn’t already done so) signing up with Castro?

How can she even pretend to speak for Americans when she blatantly unites herself wit Anti-American groups?

That’s my personal opinion.

What's yours?

I see the liberals bickering about the conservatives and calling them names, and the conservatives doing the same to the liberals. Do these people doing this really think that it will cause one side to see things their way (ie: conservatives becoming liberals or liberals becoming conservative)? Other than making the "other side" mad, what purpose does it serve?

On the Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA) http://www.fapa.org/ website there is much info about Taiwan's plans to join the United Nations. Such plans are based on the (supposed) fact that ROC/Taiwan is already an independent sovereign nation. Is this true??

Taiwan had been ceded to Japan in 1895. In order for Taiwan to join the UN, three criteria appear most relevant. First, the officials in Taiwan must be able to produce an international treaty reference which clearly shows that the territorial sovereignty of Taiwan has been awarded to the ROC government. Second, clear evidence must be produced that Taiwan has been incorporated into the territory of the ROC via the procedures the ROC Constitution, Article 4. Third, there must have been a law passed by the Legislative Yuan authorizing the mass naturalization of native Taiwanese persons as ROC citizens.

Without these three criteria being met, how can ROC/Taiwan be considered an independent sovereign nation?
