The good ol' US government ,
Having to clean up yet another mess they created.
Are you forgetting the Iran - Iraq war? Do you know about the US government's involvement in making Saddam the dictator that he was.... or that other guy from Afghanistan ( you know who I'm talking about )...but in the end, the fault lies with Saddam himself, he should have chosen bedroom partners a lot more carefully.

We "handed" him over to a government that we essentially set up, knowing he would be executed. I can assure you, we would have never given up custody of Saddam without the reassurance of a signed execution order.
Saddam was not a person that I would have chosen to have tea and crumpets with, I will give proponents for his execution this much, but he was also not someone I believed deserved to be murdered at discretion of our country or Iraqi's biased and feeble government. Furthermore, propaganda (such as the media stating there was no American involvement) stating otherwise truly minimizes our intelligence as a country.

The Iraqis held a trial, the Iraqis sentanced him to death, and the Iraquis carried out the sentance.
