It is in the same borough as my temp.accom (within london) and the avarage rent in the area for a three bedroom is £260+ The housing office did say i can look for private renting as i dont have enought points to bid on council but i need to know if this would be legal as he is the father(we are not married and will not be living with me)

They wouldn't pay £950 a month rent. Why dont you look for a rented place at a realistic rent ??? If the council think you are taking the pi5s they will ak you to register for fair rent which is calculated on the size of the property and location etc. £950 is excessive .

You're allowed to do it alright. They will try and make you prove that you are definitely seperated from the father. As long as you do that, no problem.
Whether or not they will pay the full £950 depends on the property really.
Don't mention the fact that the rent is specifically for the mortgage.
You will have to convince them it's not a blag!

Ex husband..... NO
Ex boyfriend maybe.....if you said you didn't know him.
They would send a fair rent officer out to assess the flat and they would only pay a percentage of it ... not the full amount.
I would look for something less expensive.......if you eventually got a job you would find it a struggle to pay 950 quid on your own along with bills.

You may get Housing Benefit if you have a lease from the Landlord and as long as he does not live in the property with you there should be no problem.
