You are an idiot, and that was a stupid question........
Just kidding!! But seriously...when you first read that did it hurt your feelings? make you angry?
Then it worked, at least in small part. Whether name calling has any effect depends largely on the situation & the audience involved.
Unfortunately a large portion of our population doesn't pay attention unless there is something sordid or mean spirited going on. Hence folks resort to such juvenile behavior.
The flip side in my opinion.....folks like us, who do care & pay attention regardless are turned off to the system in general, and we end up w the gridlock we now possess.
Good question!!

Lacking the ability to formulate an intelligent question, immature persons resort to baiting "the other side".
It "works" for the questioner, if they're able to elicit an emotional, defensive/offensive response from the other side and it "works" when they receive validation/agreement from their side.
These types of "questions" are a good place to gain points, rating answers instead of answering in kind.

it serves no purpose. they must think we are all as daft as them. media is to blame for a lot of it as they often distort what has been said. frankly, none of the main parties in the uk are worth voting for - which could turn out to be dangerous if everyone starts to feel the same because it will let the extremists (of any persuasion) in and that would be bad for us all.

No,the name calling doesnt work.I used to be a democrat and changed parties because of the extreme hatred and name calling,no respect at all.Its one thing not to like the President but the Conservatives never referred to Clinton as Hitler or Stalin and the left have called our military terrorists and killing innocent people,I got sick of it.We should be behind our troops and supporting them and not calling them names, they are protecting US.

When you cannot provide solutions to an issue, a person will result to lies and name calling to get what they want. The American voter must be and should be smart enough to see through the people who cannot perform their jobs,
