But there are also striking similarities: an inability to turn military superiority into political victory; a credibility gap between the comments of U.S. leaders and the reality on the ground; and dwindling public support. Those parallels are why it's worth comparing the post-withdrawal fears in Vietnam three decades ago with Iraq today.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair suggest "a more aggressive Western initiative to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a key to tamping down violence in the region, a recommendation that is also reportedly under consideration by the Iraq Study Group. Blair said that resolving the Arab-Israeli dispute, stabilizing Lebanon and pressuring Iran to halt its support of militants are key to helping reduce bloodshed in Iraq."

After all you know deep in your heart that life after death is only a hope. If you were an Iraqi suicide bomber you killed yourself and people of your own ethnic group, people who believe in the same Allah that you do - people whom you might have liked if you had known them. Do you really believe for certain that you are going to live after death in some kind of paradise? I can't imagine the kind of courage it must take to strap on a bomb and know you are going into, maybe nothingness. That kind of courage and committment should be put to better use.

Perhaps Dubya B. has been cheating on Laura B. with Nancy P. and their pre-election behavior might suggest two people who have the hots for each other but verbally berate each other as a thinly veiled disguise.

Perhaps?

Explain to me how killing someone gets people in jail, and it's called homicide or murder, but killing someone during a war it's called a casualty of war and doesn't oblige you to do time or face a sentence...
PLEASE, this is not an ethics forum (though feel free to leave an opinion), i just want to know what legal grounds or moral arguments make a civilian killable during a war. Or make a soldier something that is not a person, so you can kill him without beeing punished.
Keep in mind: Some warfare kill civilians taht were not supposed to be harmed BUT when someone kills another person on a car crash he has to do time even when he didn't "mean to" kill.
How many million person does law stipulate have to be killed during a war to allow a trial for crimes against humanity, like nuremberg or saddams? Are the dead people under this threshold not considered humanity by international laws?

Just read about a Army Basic Training Stress card. I've heard about them. But I've never seen one or met anyone who admitted ever having one in basic training.

Did anyone in here actually have a stress card when YOU were in basic training?? If so, what basic training post were you at?

Not heard of them, or knew a guy who knew a guy.

When you give me your answer please try to make it as rational and logical as possible, and please avoid doing any of the ff:

1.) making insolent attempts to put one race above another. You know who I'm talking about... Race means nothing to me in this issue and I hope its the same for you.

2.) using irrational references to the pilgrims, Native indians and the 19th-early 20th century Irish, Germans, Japanese, etc immigrants. Why? because this is the 21st Century, not the 17-19th centuries when colonization and mass movements of people were still fashionable.

3.) using "its stolen land" arguments. Why, because if one thinks about it all nations today are built upon "stolen land"... It's called conquest and war. (I may not like it but what can you do...Another war?)

4.) using the pity "they're poor and deserve to come in" argument, because worse criminals can say the same thing ("I'm poor so I have to steal/kill/rape/murder").

I hope I word this right and don't leave any room for misinterpretation, but I do tend to stick my foot in my mouth, and I also know that there are some here who only see what they want to see.
Okay, my theory is this: Bin Laden is a sworn enemy of the US, as he is responsible for nearly EVERY terrorist attack on this country the last twenty years.
President Bush has said that he isn't really focused on Osama right now (or some on here have said).
Do you think it's possible, that with all the secret operations our CIA and Special Forces have undertaken over the years that they are actively and secretly searching for bin Laden? Is it possible that we already have CIA operatives who have infiltrated al Qaeda?
I think it's possible, because of the fact that some things HAVE to be done in secret. After all, if WE know about it, then our enemies would know.
"Loose lips, sink ships." Is my theory viable?

How Many people want a change in the US govt? If the people wanted to revolt, how would they go about it without the bush administration calling them terrorists and executing them? How would the people even talk about it? Will I be arrested for even asking these questions? How free are we anymore? What about the 9th amendment?

Can someone please explain to me why the people of this country(US) just dont give a damn about their fellow man, and why they live in their shallow little worlds made of money, wasting resources and polluting their environment by driving huge SUVs and screwing over whomever gets in their way just to have more money to buy crap they dont really need just to impress their neighbors as to how shallow their lives have become?

What has happened? Is everyone ruled by fear in this country? Do the police have too much right AND ability to destroy peoples lives if they do not conform and obey?

Would the founding fathers shoot themselves if they saw us today?

i am trying to maintain my child's right to an education and protect her at the same time. she was sexually assaulted (a young man put his hand down her blouse and groped her breast in a random act of violence) while waiting outside the principles office at the middle school. it was reported. the young man arrested. he was already on probation for drug issues. his parents responded by putting him in a christian school which he was recently expelled from. now he is back at the middle school. my daughter has been distraught from the beginning. she is young for her age raised on a ranch and is a good student. she is in the band, year book commitee, 4H and is active in our church. we live in a small town and have one middle school.

what role does the school have to protect my girl while she is at school. what do i say to the principle.
he goes to court next month.
