I hope I word this right and don't leave any room for misinterpretation, but I do tend to stick my foot in my mouth, and I also know that there are some here who only see what they want to see.
Okay, my theory is this: Bin Laden is a sworn enemy of the US, as he is responsible for nearly EVERY terrorist attack on this country the last twenty years.
President Bush has said that he isn't really focused on Osama right now (or some on here have said).
Do you think it's possible, that with all the secret operations our CIA and Special Forces have undertaken over the years that they are actively and secretly searching for bin Laden? Is it possible that we already have CIA operatives who have infiltrated al Qaeda?
I think it's possible, because of the fact that some things HAVE to be done in secret. After all, if WE know about it, then our enemies would know.
"Loose lips, sink ships." Is my theory viable?

I agree 100% with you on this one!!!! There are 20,000 troops in that region, and I have several friends with whom I served with in the past in that region. From e-mail contacts my friends are saying that everything is "hush-hush"!!!! It is the media that has the "lose lips" with bogus reporting, and to win this war against terror most battles need to be kept in the dark!!!

Well, first, bin Laden isn't that important. Why? Because he's only one person - we're fighting against not just all of al Qaeda, but every other scumbag terrorist outfit out there.

Perhaps there is concern that if we do indeed capture / kill Osama, then the idiots would think the war was over, as they thought when Clinton jailed the blind imam after the 1st WTC bombing.

Al Qaeda and the rest of the terrorists won't stop if Osama is gone, so prioritizing Osama is not the correct thing to do.

I don't believe there is any infiltration close to Osama - he is so deep in hiding I doubt it's possible.

It is a viable theory, however with the crimes that Bin Laden has committed it would be far better for the U.S. and the world to bring him to justice. I think if we are just observing him and have infiltrated his forces that we are making a big mistake. It isn't like catching him will stop Al Quada. But I do think it would do wonders for the image that the U.S. portrays to the entire world.

It is possible, but it stretches credulity a long way to suggest that the great US of A cannot find one man. They found Saddam, His sons, the 50 or so people on the cards (and not just in Iraq) and any criminal they want to get hold of. The absense of Bin Laden is down to two things, 1 as I believe he is now dead or a tape would have been released by now and 2. It was never in the interest of America to find someone who will categorically prove 9/11 was not all that was reported to us.

I guess anything's possible, but I can't help but think that if Bush had really wanted to get bin Laden, he would have done so by now. (After all, they DID get Saddam Hussein.) However, I'm kind of suspicious of the Bushes' cozy relationship with the bin Laden family. I'm kind of wondering if that's one reason why Osama bin Laden isn't the focus of Bush's attention.

It's possible.. but from my understanding of what is going on and listening to his speeches....Troops in Afghanistan are not actively seeking anybody... they are there to help train the Afghanistan army and helping them secure their borders to keep terrorist from getting into their country and he won't go into Pakistan because it a sovereign nation, so he won't go into that country without the Government's permission... those are the things that I have heard him say.. then again he did freely admit that he lied to the public about getting rid of Rumsfeld.. so I guess you never know what he is doing and what he is telling the public

Without an enemy they cannot make war, terror people with fear, point away from the real important things and the rich won't get richer, without a war Bush would no longer be president..

Bin laden is probably the best protected person now because they need him to much.

We used to have a phone tap on his Bin Laden's phone in the 90's. Too bad Clinton did not take full advantage of that, especially when the CIA guranteed the info. was 100% true, but he still did not.

Osama eventually found out about the phone tap, and got rid of it. I don't think we do have anyone on the inside now, but before, we did.

I have wondered/hoped this myself. While many would say that Bin Laden is no longer a threat, I think he is a major symbol. I can't imagine we would not want the guy who funded/orchestrated one of the greatest tragedies in American history.
