Two words for you. Woodrow Wilson. This is when the black democratic movement started. Many blacks were still in low paying labor jobs.Many Blacks lost their jobs due to the Great Depression, And since the Great Depression was pinned on Woodrow Wilson, and Woodrow Wilson was a Republican, many blacks hated republicans, and many still do, because you tend to vote how you're parents vote, and they the same. Bork Lazer - That's funny considering that The majority of the votes for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 were Republicans , In fact, I believe it was 84% Republicans voting for it and only 62% Democrat, look that one up.
World's Greatest Hero - That's why Republicans support school vouchers, to help minorities spring up from the ghettos, while Democrats want to keep minorities down to protect their power base. Anyone that is a self-made man tends to lean conservative. That and secondly, everyone recieves special interest funding, including the democrats. In fact, the democrats recieve more special interest funding from organizations than Republicans, so learn to spread facts, not liberalist propaganda.
Curlycute - WOW, You have to be the smartest person alive, white people supporting democrats, no, it can't be. It's the same as black republicans ( Yes there are some out there, I have met them, and even gay republicans(met them too)). So you're white and you're promoting the demise of your own race. See, unlike you, I'm colorblind when it comes to race. You may want a minority takeover, but I don't see black, white, asian, latino, whatver, all I see are two people. People who are helping America, and people who are hindering America, and you are the latter by promoting racial intolerance. Hey, lets try NOT PROMOTING RASCISM! Well I don't wish to burst your bubble sweetie! But there are a whole lot of white people that think the Democratic Party is better for them. Please do not get it twisted! Blacks and Latino may be the majority but they are not the only group that feels this way! And while we're writing about groups, I personally know some Asians and Indians that feel that the Democratic Party would be good for them as well. Remember the reservations that were stolen from the Indians? Blacks, Latinos, Asian and Indians----It's too bad that they all can't band together as one because then that would make them the majority of the Caucasians! Oh Well Maybe Someday! One can only wish!

I think the same thing. I'm hispanic and a democrat but not because of I'm hispanic. They shared some of my values and I admire historical figures in the past who were democrats. I think it's disgusting the way the religious right has take a hold of the Republicans that has inclined me to vote democratic. They're not perfect but they have done some good things. I ask myself the same things when minorities vote democrat and they don't even know why. I have informed myself and made my choice of being democrat regardless of my race.

I've wondered this myself, because the Democratic party historically has clout with these groups because they grant them "victim" status. The thing is, since the Civil Rights movement, there have been times when the Democrats controlled all branches of government, and yet there are still race relations problems. That would be enough to show me that the solution to these problems is not in government, and that the Democrats don't want the problems to disappear, because that would get rid of their victim chip.

blacks vote democratically more reliably than latinos do
you would think it would be better if major groups within the black community declared themselves as independent and then voted according to the candidate doing the best to address their issues
rather than being taken for granted by the democratic party
of course that would take good sense and organization

Because the republican Party wants to give huge tax breaks to republican wealthy business owners that hire blacks and latinos, whereas the wealthy business owners pocket the saved money and FIGHT against higher wages.
