How Many people want a change in the US govt? If the people wanted to revolt, how would they go about it without the bush administration calling them terrorists and executing them? How would the people even talk about it? Will I be arrested for even asking these questions? How free are we anymore? What about the 9th amendment?
Can someone please explain to me why the people of this country(US) just dont give a damn about their fellow man, and why they live in their shallow little worlds made of money, wasting resources and polluting their environment by driving huge SUVs and screwing over whomever gets in their way just to have more money to buy crap they dont really need just to impress their neighbors as to how shallow their lives have become?
What has happened? Is everyone ruled by fear in this country? Do the police have too much right AND ability to destroy peoples lives if they do not conform and obey?
Would the founding fathers shoot themselves if they saw us today?

Does anyone care about their rights anymore? Are the people of the USA going to stand by while their president warmongers across the globe for monetarian reasons? Does anyone else think George W. Bush will declare war before the 2008 elections just so he can stay in office past his 8 year maximum term? If so, how long would he keep us in a state of war just to retain control? Would any of this warmongering lead to the nuclear destruction of the US from outside sources that have had enough of the BS from the Bush administration? Where does that leave the average US citizen who doesnt even want Bush in office? Does anyone REALLY believe that bush didn't BUY his was into office?Does anyone think the war in Iraq was about anything OTHER than money and oil?
Please send this page URL to everyone you know. If you are concerned about me and whether or not I get arrested for this I am on yahoo messenger as eyetyrant.

HMM, I wonder how many 1000 character details I can ad to this. (sorry, off subject I know)..
When the last revolution happened, weren't people willing to die for their cause? Is that the main thing keeping people from rebelling today? Noone is willing to die for their rights? What kind of life do you have is you have no rights? Is it worth living? What kind of life do you have if you really have no say in what happens?
How many people would it take to get a real revolution going? If a million people marched on the white house and demanded control of their country back, would it work? Would a million people show up? How would the people organize for that without the govt stopping them? Would just setting a day for the revolution work? What would be a good day? Would July 4th work due to symbology?
Am I going to be arrested for this, or do we still have the freedom of speech?
What rights do we still have that are not walked on by the federal government?

Well, so far we have ALOT more people in favor of change than opposed.
I would also like to add that I am NOT on welfare, I do NOT get foodstamps, but I also am not rich. I guess I fall into the lower middle class category.
I apologize if this is all lengthy, but alot needs to be said.
Yes, I use a computer. It is almost inpossbile to share ideas and communicate with many people simultaneously without it (again, sorry, off subject, but I needed to reply a little)
Anyways..... Are people afraid of the fallout of a revolution? With any change there are aftershocks, but wouldn't it be better that the current situation? Or are we better off just sitting tight and letting the government control us like little piggy banks? Is taking our hard earned income from us to fund their money-making schemes acceptable?
Are the people blind to what the government is doing? How many books have been written on this whole subject?
HAS ANYONE READ "MORAL COURAGE" BY Rushworth M. Kidder??

I'll answer your last question first. No they would not have. The founding fathers were the radicals of their day. They encountered the same things we do today. Apathy. They had to work hard to get the pot stirred up. Colonists in general greated many of the outrages perpetuated by the King with a yawn, just as many citizens here did when the writ of habeus corpus was in all effect suspended with the Military Commissions act.
Political change moves slowly. That is a good thing. It prevents us from overreacting to changes in the national mood. It is the reason our government has lasted for over two hundred years. Unfortunately it is also the reason we have problems with poverty, divisiveness and the loss of civil rights today.
You generalize when you say the people of the US don't give a damn. Many of us do and many of us have demonstrated and worked for change. Our work continues and our numbers grow. It is time we the people took control again. I am not talking about a govenment overthrow. I am talking about an overthrow of the political environment. We are a nation being spoon fed ideas by firmly established political parties that purport to lead us but who, in truth exist for the purpose of their own power and continued existance.
Change may be slow but it can still take place. Mold your frustration into foccussed organization. Remember,
two individuals can be the beginnings of a group, two groups can be the beginnings of a movement. It's high time for a movement.

I think alot of people want change in our government, the problem is that the vast majority of the population are uninspired. They instead watch the news and believe what the last celebrity figure says. I sometimes think that if Oprah said vote for candidate 'x', half the women in this country would just do it. Not to be sexist, many men would do the same if some public figure voiced a similar opinion.
The true problem with America today is the lack of original thought brought on by our instant gratification throwaway society. There have been many misteps in American History, many mistakes and many times where the people finally became enraged and were offered and accepted an illusion of change. Truth betold, the same forces that were in control 200 years ago, are in control today. They have different names and look different now but the fact is that there have always been haves and have nots. The haves have always ruled. The have nots are given the illusion of choice and the illusion of control through the party system, which offers us virtually identical choices.
I think that the U.S. is the greatest country on earth, the greatest country that has ever existed to honest with you. That being said, what we, the citizens, have allowed the country to become is a travesty. I think we did need to go into Iraq and I think we did need to go into Afghanistan, and to be honest with you we probably should have gone into half a dozen other countries in the middle east at the same time. We were attacked on 9/11. We should have declared war, real war not what we call war now but a true war where the population mobilized and put the full force of all our national resources to bear against those responsible. (Let me say that I think that our military has all my respect, the leaders and the handcuffs placed on them are what has caused the problems). The reason this wasn't done is that we have become soft in this country, soft because of political correctness, because of special interests, because of minorities.
We have allowed and even supported legislation to pass which gives special treatment, preferred treatment to these classes of our society. The constituion guarantees all the rights needed, the additional rights and regulations and privileges give to these classes of our society have undermined our country as a whole. Let me say that I'm not a racist and I am not making disparaging remarks about minorities. What I am saying is that the special treatment give them has fundamentally weakened our society and our country. I believe that this combined with the welfare state which was started in the 1930's as part of Roosevelt's new deal were the beginning of the problems we face now.
We need to wipe the slate clean and become not african american, irish american, italian american, or chinese american but simply americans. Citizens all with the same rights and duties. We need to eliminate welfare, we need to reevaluate our involvement overseas (either go all in or get the hell out), we need to outlaw political parties, we need to outlaw lobbyists, we need to restore the constitution and we need to restore America to what is should be....the greatest country on the face of the earth. Will there ever be a revolution in america? Probably not, do we need some major changes? Definately. Will the vast majority of citizens stand up to be counted? Hell no, they're too busy to be bothered.

Whew, you sure ask a lot of tough questions.
But in short I will say that the political and social problems that plaque our nation today stems from apathy. Our people have been very blessed over the past 30 years with over abundance of luxuries that we have taken our basic constitutional rights for granted and have given the reins of control to our politicians so we won't be bothered while we indulge ourselves with our recreations and self-interests. I'm afraid until our attitude changes, there will not be any sufficient change in our social /political environment. And I don't see us changing our attitude anytime soon. Revolution? I doubt anybody cares enough for one. Unless, of course a major economical calamity hits again (IE: depression) that takes away their X box's, tee-off times, SUVs, football game tickets, big screen TVs and ...oh yeah, their jobs. Remember my friend, that we live in a time where most people believe that calling into a radio talk show, blogging a comment on the internet or bothering to vote once every four or six years is high political action. It's the same with high gas prices, Americans will bit¢h and moan about them but that's it. They'll still pay four or five dollars a gallon gas and not even consider car pooling, getting rid of their gas-guzzler Hummers or taking mass-transit to work or shopping.
PS: Please cut Paulisfre some slack, he was just quoting the rest of the Beatles song "Revolution" that your main question quotes. The very same thought popped into my head when I read your opening question (but he beat me to it). I don't think it hampers this discussion. Thanks.

My favorite of the 3 is the long-established, so-referred to as B-part ( it used to be extra adequately a 'double A' unmarried) to "Hey Jude". The different 2, at the White Album, are intriguing. The gradual one is just like the fore-runner to the unplugged periods which have been so trendy with many musicians within the nineties. The different Beatles, particularly Paul, it appears weren't that enthused approximately "Revolution nine" making the last reduce for the White Album, however John held his flooring and insisted on its inclusion.

I give a damn about my fellow man, I am just not willing to support them while they are 'finding' themselves. You have a lot of nerve saying that my life is shallow, considering you are only basing that on your opinion. I work hard for what I have, and just because we do not agree, that does not make me wrong. Also, the only person qualified to gripe about people using resources that pollute the environment are those who are proactive in not having those things in their lives. Since you obviously have access to a computer, take comfort in the fact that you are benefiting from pollution as well.

If you want a revolution, then don't let me stand in your way.
WE GIVE the politicians the right to be corrupt, to make laws that are anti-freedom, and the right to destroy our enviroment. Until the are ALL voted out of office, it'll never change.
Global warming, nuclear arms proliferation, fascist laws, are all going to become a big problem in this century.

People who blame people with money for all of lifes "unfair twists and turns" usually don't have any, quick everyone, donate a dollar to this guy so he will feel a part of society. You cry way to much, and your trying to make yourself sound educated when in fact Billy Madison had more to say with the Little Puppy That could. March your a.s.s to the White house and yell a few things, youll answer your own questions. As for getting arrested for this post? that only shows your ignorance. Later Einstien.

it's because people don't understand the nature of fulfillment that they chase after the things you mention. i dropped out of that "american dream" aspect of life in the late 70's, and anyone else that wants to is free to do the same.
