If wearing red on Friday and a yellow ribbon sticker on your car are the only way you support the troops, go for it. Some of us have a more hands-on approach, like donating to military family charities, writing representatives when they are voting to cut military pay and benefits, etc.

Do what makes you feel good. Thats what it's all about, isn't it? Supporting the troops and giving support to the troops are two different things, I guess.

addendum:
I wasn't attacking you specifically, just those whose ideas of "support" are merely capitalistic and not charitable. I would gladly support any action that actually supports the troops, rather that simply paying them lip service. How about this? Every Friday, instead of wearing something red, why not send a care package to a soldier overseas. Wearing red shows your friends and co-workers that you support the troops. Sending a care package shows it to the troops.

I didn't even hear about this until this week, and it occurred to me then that I've been wearing red on Friday's unconsciously for quite a while now.
On a larger scale, I support our troops everyday, one in particular because I maintain our home and our family so he has something wonderful to fight for and come back to when his tour is up.

If i fully and whole heartedly support the soldiers..but not the war...could i wear pink? What about a red shirt that says.."just bring what's left of them home"?
And before i get hated on because of silly ASSumptions... i am a proud American..do understand the reason why we are suppossedly there and actually have a few family members over there and one who has just returned!

I
think that we shouldn't only wear red to support our troops. There are also other better ways to support our troops.
