Cites Constitutional Power to Protect Nation's Security

What Did 'Four Years' Mean in 1789?

WASHINGTON, June 21, 2008. President Bush, citing his authority as Commander in Chief of the armed forces and his inherent constitutional power over foreign affairs, today ordered a postponement of the 2008 presidential election in order "to protect the American people in our war on terror."

CONTINUED BELOW
In a speech during a surprise visit to Baghdad, where he celebrated the summer solstice with the troops, Mr. Bush told the nation that the election will be "rescheduled as soon as a change in leadership does not create a security threat and not a second later. When the Iraqis stand up, we'll vote."

"Elections are important," the President acknowledged. "I know that. I believe in elections. I'm President because of an election, sort of. But protecting the nation from another 9/11 is more important than holding an election precisely on time."

Bush accuses the Democrats of not having a plan for Iraq. Having taken us to war without a plan, isn't this a bit much?

I just had surgery on Monday and woke up yesterday morning with a temperature. My husband, who is in the military, took me to the ER. He took the day and stayed at home to care for me. His supervisor said it was alright. Today he was told that he MUST provide proof that I was in the ER yesterday. I took the form to headquarters for him since he was assisting in surgery. The XO told me that I wasn't supposed to bring it to him that my husband was. My question is, did I get him in trouble for bringing it myself?

I'm looking for intelligent answers only. And please, unless you have evidence to the contrary, don't cite stricter gun control laws. Many cities and states in the U.S. with the strictest gun control laws(D.C.) also have the highest violent crime rates and many cities and states with the most lenient gun control laws(Texas) have some of the lowest per capita violent crime rates.

I have a friend who works in a metal plant in Virginia for 12 hours a day. His Job has been making him work over time(additional 4 hours, so he works from 3:30 pm to 3:30 am). Can your employer make u work overtime like that, for weeks straight, and no off days for the past month? Seeing as how it's a metal plant, its a strenuous job and the workers need off days and longer breaks.
