Cites Constitutional Power to Protect Nation's Security

What Did 'Four Years' Mean in 1789?

WASHINGTON, June 21, 2008. President Bush, citing his authority as Commander in Chief of the armed forces and his inherent constitutional power over foreign affairs, today ordered a postponement of the 2008 presidential election in order "to protect the American people in our war on terror."

CONTINUED BELOW
In a speech during a surprise visit to Baghdad, where he celebrated the summer solstice with the troops, Mr. Bush told the nation that the election will be "rescheduled as soon as a change in leadership does not create a security threat and not a second later. When the Iraqis stand up, we'll vote."

"Elections are important," the President acknowledged. "I know that. I believe in elections. I'm President because of an election, sort of. But protecting the nation from another 9/11 is more important than holding an election precisely on time."

Although I would love to just call this a story, I am att odds with the reality of how many rights we have lost since 911. To be sure, most of what we have lost may seem inconsequential, but in time, when you try to lean on what you thought was a right, it will not be found to remain.

Go look at the intersection. You see those cameras everywhere?
They signify the end of our freedoms.
If there are no cameras at your local intersection, don't fret. They are coming.... to every city.

This concept of the pres acting this way is a true mime of what is actually happening under our noses......

But wait - don't stop the election..... there are too many Venezualan voting machines just waiting to count......

How we will long for the days of "hanging chads"....

Depends the voting favoring which candidates... I think they could go along with their plan if any of the CFR members would got a chance to get elected and continue the work. But from all the precautions he has taken to get his patriot act into life, and the CDC Anthrax thing, I am pretty sure that he count on using it somehow to acertain its power over the US... Also, with the recent AL-Quaeda warning and ''signs'' feeled by Chertoff, I guess he will not wait too long before enabling this act, just not to look too much close to the election to look suspicious... So all in all, they are over 50% chance that he will definitly do something with his patriot act, but wether or not he will cancel the election or postpone it, its another matter... We shall see soon, unfortunately!!

You must be making this story up. If it were true the World News would be on it like stink on dog poopy and thats all you would hear, day in and day out.

Where did you get this crap?

HOWEVER - if Bush were to declare Marshal Law - THEN - everything can be frozen. Land can be taken from people for government use and so on. Elections too could be halted. Such an act would throw the U.S.A. into a darkened state of chaos.

Bush could not declare Marshal Law without a major attack against the United States. I bet you are a liberal striking up a smear campain, eh?

You are talking about Iraq and so is your fearless leader President Bush. You having taken something and made it up out of whole cloth. It is and has been unsafe for anyone to do much of anything in Iraq, as the Iraqis have been kept destabilized by insurgents that are minions of Saddam Hussain and other muslims elements which have chosen to kill us and their own in an attempt to continue their genocide and killing of the "foreign invaders who have invaded them" (thats us for you slow folks). They insist on this for their own selfish reasons, they do NOT WANT PEACE, they want WAR, WAR allows them to continue to spout their beliefs that we are the INFIDELS and must be erased from this earth (that includes your Grandma numnuts) and will stop at nothing, up to and including killing their own countrymen and women and children. If you do not believe as they do, then off with your hands, heads and body parts. You can be kidnapped off a street, raped, stoned and beheaded and they don't don't feel bad, because you are like a cockroach to them, something less than human, and because you don't believe in Islam, you have no expectation of mercy from them. So go pedal your Bush Bashing in Iraq my friend and pray to Allah, cause you will not get any sympathy from me trying to turn what he was talking about into that he would not step down as president in the United States. I hate it when stupid people breed.........

Of course not. The Constitution is quite clear on the subject, as are a pile of Federal statutes and state laws.

State your source.
Why are you re-asking this question?
Stop repeating this question or I will report you.
You are trying to stir up a silly notion that is not ever going to take place. You accuse Pres. Bush of using fear as a force to make people vote a certain way. You are attempting to do that which you accuse him of. This shows your apparent lack of education, poor creativity, lack of understanding of the law, and disrespect for your country and fellow citizens.

quit wasting people's time. You need to focus your energy on the enemy that has sworn to kill you and your family and not a President taking his licks for protecting your butt.

It is truly inspirational to know that there are still heroes who stand ready to protect us from imaginary demons.

This is the kind of drivel you get for buying into the "lesser of two evils" mentality.

No thanks.
