Political correctness comes from the trend in America to try and be multicultural. Otherwise...we try to accept everyone so we try not to offend anyone even when they are offensive

i.e, if someone is short...you call them vertically challenged. if someone is retarded, then they are intellectually underdeveloped. It isn't a trash-man any longer it is a waste disposal engeneer.

I could go on and on. But I won't Political correctness and multiculturalism is a blight on our national intellect. All it does is give people false sense of importance and also gives people ahiding places from which to throw stones at others. It has developed a culture of individuals feeling they have the right to say what they want about others, yet become indignant if anything is said in response.

Look around even in Yahoo here... you will have people insult and attack a certain religious group...then they become enraged and indignant when someone from that group responds in defense. It is rediculous.

Please...do not get into Political correctness...If you see someone being a complete and utter dumb a-s-s..please call them on it...just don't get offended if they disagree...

just remember, you are allowed to share your un-gaurded opinion with people, but you better judge yourself first before you point out the idiocy of others...there is a chance you're the idiot...and that's okay to -as long as you don't refer to yourself as logically misrepresented.

political correctness - liberals supressing free speech - As in you can insult President Bush all you want, but if you point out that Michael J Fox admitted in his own damn book that he goes off his meds when he wants to make a point, you're a baaaad person. Or when you can't call it treason when someone in the American press gives our national secrets to our enemy or plays enemy-supplied propaganda on a news network, after promising to give the terrorists "a fair shake"??????
Or how about you are not allowed to point out really obvious facts like men are stronger then women and therefore probably better suited to combat. Or that, on average, men are by nature more competitive then women which might account for the difference in wages, and not some secret fraternal council that conspires to keep the wages of women lower.
There - how about those examples?

Its basically calling something by it's so called "proper name" so that the word doesn't offend anyone. An example is, its not politically correct to call someone black, they are "African-American". Deciding what is and isn't offensive is getting out of hand lately which is what make political correctness such an ugly thing.

Political correctness is stupid, overdone, hyper-sensitivity towards anybody other than heterosexual white male protestants. And it's not funny.
