I do not understand this. First, it's just stupid that since the 50's this cat and mouse game has been going on. Customer threatens to walk away before saleman walks into manager's office That stuff.

Second, I can't believe that with today's overly litigous society, lawyers don't file 300 lawsuits per day against auto dealers for discrimination. I'm lost on this one.

everyone is complaining and whining about illegal immigration but no one seems to come up with real immigration reforms. any human with an iota of common sense know that mass deportation(antil illegal) or full amnesty (pro illegal)is not the way to go. Why cant we meet somewhere in the middle and come up with a solution that will be beneficial to both sides? A win-win situation. Lets say for example:every illegal must pay fines, be registered & go thru background check and NOT become a public burden i.e. collect welfare & other gov't aid for 5 yrs (special exemptions can always be made in dire situations); will not be eligible for certain benefits if they haven't paid into the system;criminals will automatically be deported;must show financial capacity to sustain themselves for the first 3 yrs of conditional residency;make english the official language; after 5 yrs of conditional residency if everything looks okay be given a 10 yr permanent residency with ability to become citizen.....

Luke 10 (NIV)

25On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

26"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"

27He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself."

28"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

29But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

more to follow....

What are you thinking about right now?
I'm thinking I need to say "Thank you" because I just peeked at my babies, and they are snug and sound asleep in their little beds. I love you, and I appreciate you ALL! My flag is weathered, but still flying on my front porch.
Penny for you thoughts. ;^)

There is this family of mice infesting my house, eating our food and shedding furs and poop everywhere. Is it wrong or illegal if I am to make them shed blood everywhere instead? What else should I do if I am not allowed to kill them?

I CANT SEEM TO FIND A JOB. I try and I try to do the "right thing" but persistently forces are working against me. I feel I have a good case against these types for the invasion of my civil liberty, the persecution of my rights to attain freedom through work, sociological conditioning and love are being battered by a bunch of fish, all drowning in their own knowledge of the unknown. I feel as if the best solution to end this problem starts with me but once much data has been collected and shared where do we all stand?

On both sides of the aisle, this issue only seems to pop up as an election year issue. And both sides use it to their advantage -- the Republicans that are against Gay Marriage go for the Christian conservative votes, and the Democrats that support it go for the homosexual and liberal votes.

And then, after the election, the issue seemingly gets put away, at least on the national visibility level. The last time the Amendment came up in Congress was 2004, and was such a hot button issue that it was immediately tabled after the election. It was reintroduced again in June 2006, just in time for the campaigns to get rolling and the debate restarted.

It just seems to me that it's a transparent "decoy" that politicians from both sides use to manipulate/motivate their base. Nothing more.

A friend and I are doing research on the WWII military history of Formosa, which is today called Taiwan. As we know, Taiwan had been ceded to Japan in 1895, and so in the 1940's it was part of the Japanese Empire.

The US Congress issued a Declaration of War against Japan on Dec. 8, 1941. According to what an associate of ours read in a Japanese book, US bombing raids against targets in Formosa began on Oct. 12, 1944. However we don't have any independent verification of that date.

As to when US aerial/naval attacks against Formosa ended, of course everything was over by early Aug. 1945, but we don't have the exact date when the last attack on Formosa was carried out.

Does anyone know where we can get online access to full records of the US military activity against Formosa and the Pescadores during this WWII period? This is needed in conjunction to a research report we are writing.

I have accepted a job teaching in Korea. I received my Visa Confirmation Number and now need to apply for my Visa here (US). I have spoken with several consulates and read several different consulate websites and am getting conflicting information.
One site says the fee is $45; another lists $80 (both for a multiple entry).
The form from the NY consulate does not have any space to fill in my Visa Confirmation Number, which I am sure they need.
I don't live in a place where I can travel to the consulate, so I have to mail everything.
Also, I want to take care of this soon, sending in all the correct forms/payments/info on the first try.
Any guidance would greatly be appreciated.
