The action the government takes.. If couple nukes were dropped, the government would be seen as a treat so there could be a civil war between those who are with humanity and those who are with power and wealth and the government...

But there will never be a civil war of religion or race in the USA, we got passed that already... Sure we have gunshots and racial slurs, but a civil war is just too much, not going to happen...

Mainly I think most civil wars happend due to government actions (No Slavery.. Some people agreed others didnt.. soo war broke out..)

The same thing that Vietnam's Civil War was fought over Socialism. If we become too socialist for parts of the country to take, they may attempt to break off.

Eminent Domain. If property rights are taken away from the population I could see an armed revolt. I think this is more oppressive than anything the minuet men put up with.

The most likely cause of America going back to another civil war is politics. We set up this country based on capitalism. Currently we are headed for socialism. The dems are pushing very hard for a socialistic society and unfortunate the rep are slowly going the same way. The way things are going we are moving towards a socialistic society. When a group form that wants to bring America back to its roots, then we could very easily have a civil war. We have enough people who want to bring it back to a capitalistic society. Its like a rubber band being stretched, its just a matter of time. Might not be in our life time.

It will probably be a class war. As the divide widens between the nation's upper and lower classes, people will grow less apathetic, as the guy above me stated, and instead grow more agitated. It will be a long way down the line, but if a civil war is to break out in this country again, it will be between those who have money and those who want it.

If it happened, I believe it'd be a religious cause. A common theme to most organized churches is that they all seem to say, "believe me or be damned" And "We're right, they're wrong. Believe, and obey, or You'll burn. The Christian church seems to be the worst at this, (not all of em of course) and is more willing than most to coerce, ostracize, judge, etc. to achieve thier aims. I call it the "not perfect, just forgiven" paradox. More and more, refusal to tolerate those not subscribing to one's own view is a big problem.

the only way a viable civil war could happen is if part of the military rebeled. billy joe and cleatus and the militias with their sawed off shotguns pose no real threat. our military is just too powerful.

Illegal immigration. The swarm of immigrants into the southern states would cause such a culture rift as to provoke an uprising in one of the two groups, either the Americans to get them out or the immigrants demanding more rights, and there you have it, civil war
