I am shocked by some of the answers I'm receiving to other questions with people stating that legal temporary migrant workers cannot get SSN's with their visa. My husband came here as a legal farm-worker, applied for and received a SS card that looks just like yours and mine and he has paid taxes with that LEGAL and VALID SSN assigned to him by our government since he got here. Even after he over-stayed his visa and became "illegal."

the ELECTED (democracy by Bush) Iraqi government is taking their time to stand up and do what we all want - fight their own fight for their democracy (by Bush)? Like a probate lawyer who dare not resolve a prabate issue because as long as the issue is open, he is getting his fees. Well, the Iraqi government is doing the same thing, as long as we, Americans, are their, billions and billions more will be spent there, specially in most cases, billions to be pocketed by the Iraqi and Republican politicians and their cronies.

It has finally happened a brindle pug in the ring in Canada!
Just curious to know since most of the show people on this site are American, how people feel about a brindle pug being shown in the ring last weekend in Canada and awarded a 1st place ribbon in it's class?????

This has caused a huge upset in the pug community and I have been told that the AKC is having an emergency meeting to look at revisitng the wording of the standard. My understanding is that a brindle pug in not allowed in the ring in America period !
Is this correct???

In Canada our National club is still trying to figure out what they are going to do about this, but aparently letters will be sent out to all the judges to educate them about the Canadian breed standard which does not disqualify brindle as a color.

The brindles came from a breeder in the USA and are AKC and CKC registered I saw the papers with my own eyes (the owner also said that the dogs were DNA tested.)
She has 2 brinde pugs entered in the Lower Mainland Dog Fancier, show at the end of the month, the biggest dog show in Canada. If they are not excused from the ring there is a chance, even if it is a slim chance, that one (or both) could get a Canadian Championship as there are 3 specialties at that show
.
I'd like to hear from people about there thought on this.

Stem cell research is legal, and does go on. It's just that our administration won't let GOVERNMENT money pay for it, only private money pays for it. Clinton did the same thing, NO GOVERNMENT funding !! Why do Liberals try to insist that WE pay for it, and that its illegal ???

if a dog were to cross the border from Mexico and come to our home starving and thirsty we would open our doors and welcome him/her with open arms and feed him and bathe him if need be and either keep him or try to find him a good home but we won't do that for a human being in the same circumstance?

What does that say about us as humans that we value the life of a dog more than the life of a man?

Hi All,

Please help. I sold my car about a month ago.
I bought some hub caps for it beforehand, though I didn't attempt to fit them -but showed them boxed when the buyers brother was inspecting the car. Unfortunately they didn't fit, as I prep'd for the car to be picked up.To add, the buyers brother inspected the car fully, test drove it, and was a nice chap. The buyer himself came to pick up the car, and after about about a week, contacted me to say that:
1) The gear didn't shift properly between 5 to 4 (something I was not aware of, but he implied I was).He wants me to foot some of the bill for repairing this.
2) That the hub caps didn't fit
3) That I advertised the car incorrectly as 'reliable'.I never had any major problems with it
4) That I was not a good example of someone that works for the company I do (it has a good reputation), as I gave brother my business card with my mobile no on it.

What's my legal position? What should I do next? He has written to me.

Before you all jump on me and say all illegals are paid under the table and all illegals don't pay taxes let me say I have first-hand knowledge of MANY illegals who either have tax id#'s or REAL SSN's assigned to them when they entered the country legally but are now considered illegal by over-staying their visa. I know first-hand that MANY illegals DO pay taxes.

Do you think the government would not have put a stop to the influx of illegals if none of them were paying taxes? Why does the government not deport these people? Simple. They are contributing into a system in which they will never be able to withdraw. They will never get welfare, unemployment, medicare or social security. What is the incentive for the government to deport that illegal?

Do you guys think that a person who comes here illegally but works and pays taxes, and is a law-abiding member of society should be deported just for the mere reason he came with no papers?

Is refusing to learn English in America, a sign of racism ? If some one does not learn English, and decides to come to America that person is separating him/her self from the majority of the population. This is cutting the lines of communication, and this creates a lack of understanding for other people.

Our history was written in English, how will our future be understood if common citizens look at the Constitution and see a strange language they can not understand ?

Please tell me all the reasons why you don't like our president. I need to know because I am your fellow American, and I think we should be honest with one another. I'll be honest...
1. he wants to be at war... why the **** war? i don't want our country to represent violence and destruction of people's lives
2. he is ignoring A LOT of issues that we Americans are having to live with right now, in America
3. we need free health care because it isn't affordable, and he seems to not even care about our health because of this, which means he doesn't care about us. Good health=good health care=good life for us
4. he has total control of how this country is, and he could be helping this country to be better for everyone, but he is not doing his best to help our country, which tells me he is a big jerk

Why are illegals and their supporters both in the United States and Mexico, compare the proposed border fencing to the Berlin wall?
My understanding is the Berlin wall was to keep their people in, and if anyone was stupid enough to want to go into Berlin, they would have glady open the gates while making sure do one went out.

John Reid yielded to growing public concern over the level of immigration yesterday and unveiled a package of quotas and fines intended to curb arrivals from Romania and Bulgaria.

Tougher penalties, and a cap on the number of low-skilled workers, formed the key part of a package of measures.

It seems to me that America is facing two big problems, and both have to do with the evolving way we view human rights:

1. Middle east policy (the senseless deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent arabs); and
2. Immigration.

It seems to me those who advocate that arab blood is less valuable than american blood and those who oppose immigration are the same people- those who do not beleive that ALL individuals have the same rights.

It seems people either feel for Iraqis because you know they're people too, or you think they're all terrorists with no rights...

It seems people either support an immigrants right to work and live where he pleases, or feel that people should have to jump through "hoops" to have the basic human right of travel.

It appears to me a crisis and we need an answer to this question- does the rest of the world have the right to life, liberty, and he pursuit of happiness or not? If so, lets get out of iraq and leave the so called "illegals" alone.
