if a dog were to cross the border from Mexico and come to our home starving and thirsty we would open our doors and welcome him/her with open arms and feed him and bathe him if need be and either keep him or try to find him a good home but we won't do that for a human being in the same circumstance?
What does that say about us as humans that we value the life of a dog more than the life of a man?

Naz....so if that dog was starving he wouldn't trash your neighborhood looking for food? And you would feel SO SORRY for the poor baby!

princess....I know you are a good person too. But can you tell me what the illegalls are getting with our hard-earned tax $? They can't get medicare, social security, welfare or unemployment. And why would you assume that none of them pay taxes? I know many illegals who do and never will be able to get anything back out of the system they are paying into.

volleyballchick....so you've actually had an illegal immigrant come to YOUR door of YOUR house and demand to come in and have you feed him and kicked you out and lived in your house. So how do you have access to the internet? Is there DSL in the cardboard box you are living in out in the street?

dear cipher....you seem a bit confused. in no way am i a liberal. I am a Christian and God's law says I must take care of all in need. And btw, I DO let them into my home and eat my food. I married an illegal. You know what the kicker to that is? He's the one who pays all the bills. He is buying the home and he buys the food. And....SHOCK....he pays taxes and ALWAYS HAS....even when he was illegal! So how am I a hypocrite again?

Because a dog does not understand the laws, and a Mexican has the opportunity to get a better life in Mexico, but decides crime will give him a better life instead by illegally entering. illegal immigrants are no better than drug dealers, they both break the law to get money

Actually, last time a lost and hungry dog came into my yard I gave him some water and took him to animal control.
I felt like a real jerk, because it was a cute little schnauzer, and he went willingly, but what else could I do? I already have a dog and a couple kids. Last thing we need is a dog with who knows what kind of diseases and problems.
Can't say I really like the comparision of humans to dogs, though. I've never had an illegal immigrant come to my door and ask for anything, but if I did, I'd probably do the same thing. Food, water, and a quickie phone call to the cops.

Well, first off the comparison is moot.
A dog doesn't earn money here without paying taxes on the money. A dog isn't going to use government funds to support itself and all of the puppies it has to support. And a dog isn't breaking the law by coming over the border in the first place.
Now, onto the other aspect of the argument.
If I took my husband and my baby to the rich neighbors and told them that we were moving in, and they would have to support us and pay all of our medical bills, and feed us and let us live in their home because we had nowhere else to go and that because they were rich, they owed us the support and opportunity to have some of their money, you know what would happen? I have a feeling there would be a door slammed in our face.
It is the same thing as the illegal immigrants that are crossing over the border. You can't dictate which laws someone can break, and choose what criminals can get off without punishment. Doing so upsets the entire justice system as we know it. Because the child molester is a good worker as a janitor of the elementary school he works at we should forgive him of the crimes he committed? Same thing you "propose". It is insane, and it is ILLEGAL.

Personally I like Mexico's climate and would not mind living there however as an American they will not permit me to get a job and stay. Immigration law is a fact of life in every country in the world try to move to Canada they are the nicest people in the world you still have to go through proper channels or be booted out. Why are Americans that have a debate as to whether or not people have to follow the law.

I am so sick of liberals like you. You and the ACLU can go to hell. Illegal aliens have ruined southern California within the past 10-15 years. People would rather take care of some flea ridden dog because it doesn't come here and refuse to speak English, ruin the health care system, expect everything for free. Hell, I bet the dog would even pay his share of taxes. You idiot, you probably live in Maine or Vermont. You are so damn ignorant. Get off your high horse and get real. Try this: put a sign in your front yard that says "Illegal Aliens Welcome Here" Let them live there for free, let them eat your food, let them walk around with their hands out looking for handouts. You are such a hypocrite. Just shut up.

the dog has no knowledge of where one border ends and the other begins. It has no concept of laws, other than that of nature. So in the dogs eyes, it's not doing anything illegally.
However!
Some people in the US would shoot it, as would those in Mexico.. some would not. Once the dog finds a home, I have no doubt that it would be spayed/neutered..so no unwanted babies would come into being. Are you suggestion we do this to those coming here, illegally.. how wrong would that be.

You would of course do the same for a human on your doorstep in the same situation.
BUT then you would release him out into the world and let him face his own life.
You simply cannot take in a permanent pet due to your lease.
This was a good try with the analogy, but does not apply.

I like the way you refer to ILLEGAL immigrants as dogs. Funny stuff.
The Q is, When 20 Million stray dogs show up at your door, will you feed them, give them insurance and a place to live. My Family has been in the US since the early 1600's. I cant even get insurance and the Dr's tell me I cant work. lol F them all

If the Gringo dog came from Mexico, no one would know that, and they have no rights as a human would. They are not subject to taxes or have welfare rights. And don't think a Texan wouldn't shoot a dog on his land for trespassing. C'mon. Also, if it had a litter as many Mexicans do when they come here, they would most likely be put to sleep. No comparison here, sorry. Good try though!
