John Reid yielded to growing public concern over the level of immigration yesterday and unveiled a package of quotas and fines intended to curb arrivals from Romania and Bulgaria.

Tougher penalties, and a cap on the number of low-skilled workers, formed the key part of a package of measures.

Great!!

The only difference is you are surrounded by water, not a dry river! Pretty easy to keep people out of your country!

I am not for illegals, but it does split the Republicans!

The paleoRepublicans want to end illegals, the rest do not! The main reason being they are the ones who hire them as slaves and make a lot of money off their backs! To them they can afford Medical care! That the rest of us have to pay for many of the illegals is just another way business pawns people off for us to take care of while they keep the money in their grubby little hands!

Then they act like the Democrats want illegals, when we are the one who end up paying for them so the gap between the rich and the poor grows!

If the Republicans really wanted to get rid of the illegals they should go after their employers who are committing a crime by hiring them! Occasionally they do, by accident!

AP) A Texas employment agency was sentenced to five years of probation for hiring illegal immigrants to work at the nation's top producer of military battlefield rations, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

The Tollin Group was also fined $20,000 and ordered to pay $414,000 in civil penalties Wednesday. It has been barred from Department of Defense contracts for three years.

The San Antonio-based company, which does business as Remedy Intelligent Staffing, pleaded guilty in January to hiring illegal immigrants and trying to cover it up by falsifying employment eligibility forms. The workers were hired for Wornick Co., which makes MREs _ or "meals ready-to-eat."

The investigation was initiated in February 2003 after an al-Qaida operative was arrested with information pointing to McAllen and Wornick as terrorist targets. Wornick had been awarded a $47 million contract to produce more than 1.1 million MREs for U.S. forces in Iraq.

The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force ran background checks on Wornick employees and found hundreds of temporary employees with fraudulent documentation.

No direct link to terrorism was found.

OMG I know! Seriously! It seems the standard is biggie sized drive through from McDonalds in the morning accompanied by a mountain dew or rockstar/redbull and whatever waste they can find to stick in their bodies as a poor excuse for a lunch, a daily 20oz frapuccinno from starbucks and more fat, grease, starch and pre-packaged heart attacks of dinner options. And people wonder why they can't breath well anymore after walking up the stairs or have sore ankles. What about apples and cheese for a snack instead of chips or ho-ho's? What about yogurt fruits and smoothies for breakfast? What about salad and steak or chicken breasts for dinner with VEGETABLES? If it's quick, you gotta get it right? It's says "healthy" on the package- or it doesn't say unhealthy so it must be good to go for me... "Why am I getting so fat? It must be my parents fault?" People don't take the time to see what SHOULD go in their body rather than what's fast or what tastes good. And I don't think half the shizt unhealthy (aka overweight) people eat tastes anygood anyway.

Sounds good to me. Why should they come over here when our people are homeless and sleeping on the street without jobs? I'm not against helping anyone, but that goes for "our own" here.
