Why are illegals and their supporters both in the United States and Mexico, compare the proposed border fencing to the Berlin wall?
My understanding is the Berlin wall was to keep their people in, and if anyone was stupid enough to want to go into Berlin, they would have glady open the gates while making sure do one went out.

Did you ever think that maybe this wall is meant to aid in keeping Americans in, as well? It's a sick prospect, but so is Gitmo, Operation Northwoods, and the "war" in Iraq.

Haha! I think it's hilarious that so many people are giving this a thumbs-down. Face the reality, people. We're in for a rough time, and no amount of denial can change that. Action could, but everyone's too concerned with fictitious safety to seek any real freedom. I guess citizens get the government they deserve.

The Berlin Wall analogy is not used for accuracy, but for its power as an image that credulous people will rally behind.

Of course, it's ridiculous.  The only way it would be at all accurate is if MEXICO was building it.  Since the Mexican government gets huge amounts of money from remittances and the Mexican military is doing things like smuggling drugs into the USA (in military vehicles), that's just not going to happen.

I am bothered by all of the illegal entries to this Country but I also feel a wall is not the answer.

I'm not sure how many U.S. Presidents in total, spoke out against the Berlin Wall but I know of Two that definitely did...JFK and Reagan, so it's ironic that The USA is now going to do something very similar to what the East German Government did.

A wall of any kind, is wrong!

There has to be a better way!

Well of course the Berlin wall was built to keep the East Berliners (communists) walled in because they all wanted to escape to the West where there were colors, not just shades of grey and brown. There were also gun turrets and people were killed as they tried to flee.
The Activists are so devoid of facts and ignorant as to history and why so many great nations have disappeared over time, they grab "pictures" in their minds and throw it out. Because Americans are so PC and scared to death of being called - and they will - racists (as if anyone should care), the Activists are not called on their blather. Notice how they throw around data and accusations and are never called on it or corrected. The reason is that "the other side" does not consider them to be smart and they do not want to embarrass them, i.e. pro-illegal activists.
The border fence's being constructed and planned are to keep people OUT of the U.S., people such as terrorists, drug cartels, smugglers of human cargo and drugs and weapons, etc. Good idea, huh?

A wall is merely a symbol and a cause for an increase in coyote fees. It will never work on its own unless we enforce existing laws, create new ones to deal with new problems, and punish those who hire illegals. That is the only thing that will really work.

one, the rich making money off the backs of illegals and want them in the country, why pay a fair wage when you can hire an illegal and line your pockets of more cash. Americans will work for a "FAIR" wage

Something to create a fantastic story about that's why. Many people can't get their point across without saying something outrageous.
