Iraq is on its way to being the new millenium Vietnam if we dont get out. Get the UN in there to train the Iraqi troops and bring our troops home. There is thousands of years of history there that we dont understand and if we get caught in it, it will just empower those religious crackpots who want to destroy the infedels (U.S.)

Do nothing different. We are kicking *** there.

In terms of it being a mess it is not even close to being a mess. In fact we are doing an awesome job.
Are we fighting a war here in the states. I mean between Illinois and Iowa? No we're not. We are fighting a war in a place we don't know, in an urban combat setting against people who blend into the civilian population. This is the hardest, deadliest war to fight and we are doing an awesome job. I don't like that American lives are lost, no one does, but we average about three deaths a day, only three. I know its three to many. But to get back to living here were we are not in war. We loose 43 Americans a day from homicide, a place where we are not in war.

Now lets look at getting the top ten wanted in Iraq and the USA. Look at all the police, FBI etc that are looking everyday for the 10 most wanted in America, in a place we know. We have over a million people keeping an eye out and looking for these people. How many do we catch a year? Now look at Iraq, we have a little over a hundred thousand troops. How many do we catch there. I let you research this because you will be surprised. This is only part of the stats. I would say we are doing an awesome job, not to mention all the pressure from people who don't understand the war and want to leave.

So I don't understand why people question Iraq.

Train more Iraqis at a time (something they plan to do), but it takes time to teach the new teachers. They officially have said 50% of Iraq will be handled by the Iraqis by the end of the year and I think 75% of Iraq will be handled by the Iraqis in the begining of next year. I think all of Iraq will be turned over to the Iraqis sometime in 2008. Meanwhile the U.S. soldiers still have to patrol, but they are mainly patrolling the capital and a couple cities now.

Dimplomatic talks with all parties involved and a nuetral arbitrator would be a start. No Condie, no Rummy, no Kissinger--how bout a Jimmy Carter, or a James Baker type going in there with some educated middleasterners and a cease fire declaration. A complete organized withdrawal with no timetable--just a get the f**k outta there steadfastness!!

Well I would guess the same as Japan if possible. I am unaware of things you can after the war is over but in Japan they built a huge base and keep thousands of troops there. I would do the same. At least the Americans will be in the area to continue to fight the smaller battles and when and if problems arise with Iran we are there.
