Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Immigration, especially illegal immigration, was the top choice, surpassing education, jobs, the state budget and the environment. California has more immigrants than any other state in the nation. More than one-fourth of all Californians are foreign-born, and an estimated 2.4 million are illegal immigrants. At times dismissed as a federal concern, the immigration issue has manifested itself in California over and over, including the decision this year to deploy National Guard troops at the border and massive marches this spring protesting proposed border policies."

Like child molesters or drug pushers or rapists or pedophiles of people who have committed violent crimes? Of course not! Not unless there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that they’ve reformed and can redeem themselves.

And what about our Yahoo Answers Community? What about twice convicted and twice banned abusers like John Skerry? Should they be allowed to return to Yahoo, still abusing the rules and guidelines, still personally attacking other Yahoo users with insults and name-calling?

On one hand you are saying they are the new slaves and if slaves are needed to keep others wealth, why you are against them? My daughter has a severe immune deficiency syndrome. She has applied for SSI, went through the beginning paperwork, etc. She waited for months, then got an appointment and went through the required physical examination about 4 months ago, and since that time there has not been any notification of their decision or what comes next. Is there a standard time limit before they are required to give her an answer? I could not find anything on the SSI government website.
