Article III of the Geneva Convention is supposed to apply to national armies in uniform; however, the Supreme Court said they applied to terrorist detainees. This bill in accordance with this Supreme Court Decision allows for a Military Court instead of a Civilian Court to try them. As for the Geneva Conventions they do not specifically say anything about what torture is and what kind of harsh interrogation tactics can be used. Since everyone these days likes to sue everyone else and threaten people with War Crimes, it is entirely necessary to define every little thing to protect our CIA Operatives and Military members. That's what this bill is about.

The Geneva Conventions (often misstated as "The Geneva Convention") consist of four treaties formulated in Geneva, Switzerland, that set the standards for international law for humanitarian concerns. The conventions were the results of efforts by Henri Dunant, who was motivated by the horrors of war he witnessed at the Battle of Solferino in 1859. In 1977 and 2005 three separate amendments, called protocols, were made part of the Geneva Conventions.

The Geneva Convention does not spell out how to deal with today's terrorist. The Geneva conventions talks about real soldiers, not mass murderers.

I agree that the torture is against the basics of America and what America has stand for until now. We should live by the rule of law, not by an un-ruled law.
Is a shame what is going on.
We shall seek and bring terrorists to "Justice". But applying the rule of “at all cost” is a shame. If we go by the same rules as they go we are not better then the terrorists themselves…
