By having a benefit system are we helping or making things worse? No one likes paying tax, national insurance, etc, especially the amounts we pay. But at least we know it's there to support our country and residents when times are hard.

Now people may shout at me for this bit - it is starting to feel that some people are abusing & milking the system. While the people who genuinely need help cant get it.
Is more being taken out of the system than is going in?
Would we be better off if instead of handing out money we paid wages to people to work in the communities instead?

In the past week, Karl Rove has been promising Republican insiders an "October surprise" to help win the November congressional elections.

President Bush's political strategist is also saying that the final two weeks before the elections will see a blitz of advertising, and the Republican National Committee is deploying an army of volunteers to key locations to help the grass-roots effort and monitor the elections.

The RNC is offering to fly in volunteers and cover their expenses. (newsweek mag article)

what will our prophetic Architect (peace be upon him) do to secure another 2 years for our faithful followers?

please pray for our man of God, GW Bush (PBUH) and his annointed strategist and God Send..Karl Rove (most merciful)

Here the scenario: A person has a warrant out for his arrest. The person is, say pulled over while driving, could his passenger, who doesn't know about the warrant get in any type of trouble? Or if the person with the warrant is at someone else's house & is found there..? Thanks for any help you can give.

Conservatives are always wagging their fingers at us liberals about "moral values."

One of the things they constantly talk about is the sanctity of marriage. However, I don't see them stopping Britney Spears or any of those immoral one day marriages. And then they won't let homosexuals marry for the rest of their life.

Sick, huh?

And how many people actually knew how America was perceived in the Middle East before that time? How many of you had Arab friends who loved this country then and now? My point in my question is...how many people get politically fired up over situations that are stirred by the media opinion who don't a political perspective OTHER than what's hammered out on Comedy Central (the left) or Rush Limbaugh (the right)....anybody else like me think we should just focus on being good citizens and shut up with the half baked quacking of everything we see on television?

Case in point:
Arlen Specter said that the bill (Military Commissions Act) sends us back 900 years because it denies habeas corpus rights and allows the President to detain people indefinitely. He also said the bill violates core Constitutional protections. Then he voted for it.

The court found that deporting the woman warrant dodger in the church would not be a violation of her citizen son's rights (no surprise).

"Arellano has drawn national attention to the immigration cause since she sought refuge in a West Side church on Aug. 15.

Meanwhile, a rally and protest take place Saturday morning to denounce what organizers said is the federal government's attack on the immigrant community.

The rally begins at 10 a.m. outside the federal building. Speakers will address recent immigrant firings by chains like Applebees and Bennigans."

I have a boyfriend in the army. He's an E5 sargent. He tells me that he is not allow to go more than 250 miles away from his base. Unless he gets leave time or has a family emergency. Now, my father served in the navy about 30 years ago. He claims that when he was in the navy, he was able to leave the base and come home practically every weekend. I'm wondering basically, who is right. Were you able to do such a thing so long ago? Is it only a navy perk to leave base on weekends? I need a third persons opinion on this. I really appreciate it. Thanks.
