How does fullfilling responsibilties as an active American citizen become beneficial for a democratic government?

Look at the last presidential election...especially the poor voter turnout. I'm betting alot of people that didn't vote wish they would have...just the difference of 1or 2 people from every voting district could have changed what has been happening since then on the local, state, and federal levels....something to think about isn't it...

You must fulfill your responsibilities in order to have a democratic
government. Voteing is the largest responseability you have, other than paying your taxes.
