Honestly I think you must say it was slavery (free labor) and land stolen from Native Americans... so "free" land compared to places like Europe. Then there was a relatively advanced technology Europeans brought into the mix. And Dictator Dumbya is squandering ALL the wealth of the USA. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

The use of slave labor. Slavery was an economic conspiracy between the north and south. Many people became rich this way.
This practice is still used today by the corporations of this country. Slave camps in china that make up much of the consumer goods purchased in this country.

We allowed the middle class to grow, up until the Reagan era, it worked well as innovators and hard workers came here to make their fortunes. When you have a society like we have now that is run for greed there is no way to go but down.

It has become rich and powerful because of a land rich in natural resources (taken with much bloodshed from the natives) and because of a small minority of brilliant scientists and intellectuals who are held in contempt by the majority who take advantage of their achievements.
The American denial of global warming is an example of their contempt for their own scientists.

Because we don't pay for everything. Like free health care, welfare, so on so fourth. Our citizens have more income to spend on domestic prducts which results in economic growth.
