Beyond that, if you include all of the safety products, regulations, studies, committees, regulations, war in Iraq, etc. I'm guessing that the cost in both dollars spent and negative impact to our economy has been over a trillion dollars.
And almost all of it is a government-sponsored dog-and-pony show to make us believe that they are actually doing something, when in truth all we are doing is chasing our tails - if terrorists really want to strike us, - they'll find a way and they'll strike something we haven't secured - overseas hotels catering to Americans, etc.
