My view is China wil not, like I generall think the USA is, a benevolent superpower. I think it will be very selfish and ruthless. BUT I think there is a real danger that China will NOT become a superpower because I think its communism will breakdown and that will weaken the regime and its ability to ruthlessly pursue its economic policies. I also think India is too disorganised to become a proper superpower. And to the contributor who said China's population was growing exponentially - NOT SO. China has stabilised its population through drastic means such as limiting couples to having only one child.

Malignant. Evil. Depraved. Totally untrustworthy. Overlord of a new bloc of subjugated nations from Mongolia to Indochina.

China as a superpower would be all encompassing. With their manufacturing and technology sectors growing by leaps and bounds they'll probably surpass the U.S. and Europe combined in not too many years.

With the size of it's population, which is growing exponentially, and the seeming compliance of this population ( as seen in the huge rate of casualties they suffered in the Korean "war just to gain a diplomatic edge during negotiations), they would have no problem with taking down the world but have the wherewithal to police it.

They don't have much oil but are coddling up to the oil producers as seen in their voting record in the U.N.

The scenario is not pleasant..

A good one. They have brought their population under control. They have allowed some measure of capitalist incentives, while still retaining socialism. Thus, they have the fastest growing economy in the world. Their IQ's are slightly higher than whites. They produced 650,000 Chinese-born engineers last year. The USA only educated 35,000 American-born engineers. Finally, China has many thousands of years of civilization and culture.

The greatest in the world, unless we stop buying the goods that British companies are manufacturing over there having closed down their factories and made our people redundant. And people are stupid enough to wave the Union flag when they have literally been taken to the cleaners by these wonderful patriotic patronising employers who fund the Blair campaign of turning this country into a banana republic. We have only ourselves to blame for listening to the media spin.

Not as big as people might suspect. True they are growing rapidly. However, they are a communist government. They will see how democratic it is getting and lay the iron fist down. The chinese government I think is trying to gain in economic value. When it has the amount it wants it will shut the doors again.

The area to look out for it India.
