the "rat studies"-anything in excess causes cancer. Splenda on a bagel- um-I would not even venture to go there.

Yea its the Aspartame that is in it that does it. Believed to cause brain cancer and lesions and lymphoma (cancer in your lymphatic system). It also contains phenylalanine, an amino acid generally harmless but can cause serious health problems with people born with phenylketonuria, a genetic disorder where the body is missing phenylalanine hydroxylase....the enzyme that breaks down the phenylalanine. It's not that great for you that's for sure. But just because you use it doesn't mean that you will have problems. Just don't use it excessively.

As for Splenda, Splenda doesn't use aspartame. It uses a sweater method...a modified Sucrose. Sucrose is very close to natural sugar and is easily broken down by our bodies so with splenda you should be fine. There are no health concerns yet but that doesn't mean that there won't be. When eating anything that is not natural just remember... in moderation, then you will be fine.

learn how to spell my dear, then I will answer you...

jk, anyway, regular white or brown sugar is just as poisonous. It is refined to such a point where there is
ABSOLUTELY NO NUTRIENTS LEFT!!

Check it out yourself!

Did you know that the brown sugar bought in regular stores is really made of WHITE refined sugar with molasses mixed back into it???

If you really care about your health, I would recommend you get organic pure cane sugar from the health stores or the organic department of your local grocery store. That can't harm you if you use it in common sense moderation. To much of anything healthy can be bad for your body as well....

I would stay away from those ARTIFICIAL sweetners. Anything artificial is very bad for your body in the long run.

Take care of yourself!

I dont know about cancer, but I do know it causes birth defects so pregnant women should not have any.

NutraSweet not new-tra-sweet. Cancer, not cansir. It has been linked to cancer, this is true. It's very rare and mass quantities of the product would have to be ingested. You are more likely to get cancer by breathing the air in Los Angeles. :)

Nutrasweet is aspartame, and it decomposes into formaldehyde and methyl alcohol. Formaldehyde is a proven carcinogen, so I guess it's reasonable to think nutrasweet increases your risk of cancer. Splenda is sucralose, not aspartame.

They do say that "nutra sweet" (spelled correctly) can cause "cancer". I thought that splenda was ok until I saw your spelling, then I realized it also screws you up.

No, but it does make you lose the ability to spell correctly.
