He has other more important things to worry about than baning gays from being who they are, like worrying about how he can pull our troops out of Iraq and actually letting things take its course in Iraq.

Just something to think about.

I completely agree that this Anti-gay thing is just ridiculous. I mean it seems so close to unconstitutional it is scary! As for pulling out of Iraq though I think that would just fuel the terrorist that are there into taking over the government and then we would be forced to go to war with them again. But I am with you on the anti-gay thing. He seems anti-anything that isn't christian based. It's getting old.

Because it's a purely emotional issue, that can't be resolved based on any facts. And emotional issues are great for distraction, because they are inherently unresolvable as long as intolerance exists.

And because Bush probably doesn't bother to read history, he doesn't realize that every other similar attempt in the history of the country has failed.

There have been other attempted amendments to enact bigotry as part of the Constitution. 1894, attempting to define the US as a Christian nation. 1912, prohibiting inter-racial marriage. 1914, prohibiting divorce. 1948, granting a fundamental right to segregate by race. All failed attempts to enforce prejudice by law.

The only limitation on personal freedoms that ever made it into the constitution as an amendment was Prohibition, and that became the only constitutional amendment ever to get repealed in its entirety by a later amendment.

You'd think people would eventually learn that bigotry and prejudice and hatred are transitory, and that later generations will look back and consider such actions to be stupid and childish.

Sadly, each generation keeps trying, thinking their own particular brand of bigotry is correct, even if every other previous version was wrong.

Yes, but then again most of what Bush does is a waste of time. And your right there is more important things to worry about. God forbid gay people get to live there life as they see fit like the Constitution says they can.

What 'anti-gay' amendment? Why wouldn't he want people to be happy and carefree?

Or are you talking about the proposed amendment to ban homosexual marriage? Why didn't you just say so?

Regardless of your position on this, the fact remains that the reason this amendment even came up is because of the judicial tyranny we saw in Massachussets, where a dictatorship of judges decided that *PRESTO* magically there was a sudden right for homosexuals to marry! When 4 judges legislate from the bench, depriving the people of their right to debate this and have their elected legislators vote on it, then they have had their voice and rights stolen from them.

Making the change to the constitution, as many states have now done, is necessary to avoid judicial dictatorship. Let's let the people vote on it, shall we?

Bush is wasting alot of time on a lot of issues. Too many for me to type here. I will say that I think he needs to get his head out of Iraq and address the problems we have right here at home.
Oh! And stop pi**ing off the rest of the world !

in my opinion, i'm a huge fan of Thessalonians 2, verse 12 -- that is not any longer anti-gay or some thing like that, yet talks about condemning human beings, so that is cool. This states that those that believe lies are going to Hell. So... the record of those going to Hell occurs to comprise the those that instructed me to study the Bible contained in the first position. sweet, sweet irony...

It's just a smokescreen flavor of the week.... Notice immigration was a big thing 2 weeks ago now it's not, then there was stem cell research, it's to make us forget about the war, and put conservatives who disapprove of him back on his side.

Because he isn't going to withdraw the military from Iraq and he wants to smokescreen the body bags coming home!
