First question: Will two males get along in a 5'x4' tank? I know they'll fight a bit for dominance, but I talked to a breeder and he said he has no trouble with his males and they only fight over females.

Second, we can't get him to eat and when we rub his mouth and head, he doesn't open his mouth like most dragons do. Is he just scared?

i see too many answers from people saying to feed small/baby snakes crickets and/or fish... .. in reguards to http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoHmKVPOiBrrOyDw0R1Tj7rM7BR.?qid=20070820171256AADSGxw
there are some answers like..
it wont eat a roach wen it is a baby and it will never eat lunch meat. u need crickets.
or ... Large insects such as crickets, grasshoppers, beetles, and roaches are all food items that most snakes will eat..

i even saw an answer the other day saying that they fed their ball python fish when it was young....

correct me if i'm wrong.. but boas, pythons, and colubrids eat rodents....

Im not sure what type it is as we are looking after it for my school. It is brown with darker brown sripes runing down the length of its body, and is a constrictor. We feed it every two weeks with adult mice and water it when nessesary.

whats wrong is that it is jumpy and has bit me lately as i went to touch him, everytime i go to the cage i tap on the glass so not to startle it as i put my hand in, i did this and put my hand in and he bit me. Now whenever i go near the cage he is jumpy and follows my every move, he also tried to bite me today but the glass was between us.

I realy need to know whats wrong because until he lets us touch him we cannot clean his cage out.

I was looking at Reptile Classifieds and certain animals it says that they "come with Article 10 papers". I was just wondering what these papers actually are?

I just bought a CB female Colombian Boa that was born in May '07. She will arrive on Wednesday.
I have a 20g long tank set up for her with a nice hide spot, UTH, and water bowl. I've read several different places that these types of snakes don't need an overhead light, so, although I have one just in case, it's not setup with her cage.
Anyway, my main problem is the substrate. I cannot decide on what to get. I know pine, cedar and fir are poisonous, so that's out of the question. Newspaper isn't the most attractive thing, and not very comfortable I could image. So, I'm left with coconut bark, cypress*, aspen or something else I haven't heard of or have forgotten.
*= I'd much prefer not to use cypress for moral reasons...destroying parts of Louisiana to harvest the cypress. So, I don't want to support that.

So, now back to the whole question. What is best to use? What do you use? And why? Pros and Cons?

I just bought a baby iguana...

well not exactly..my boyfriend did.
(he has wanted one forever and there was one in the paper for 20 bucks)

---by the way i know it was wrong of him to just go out and buy him,you dont have to tell me, im the one that is taking care of it now (but thats okay because i LOVE all animals)

besides its not like we wont shop for him... we just went out and got him a 20 gallon tank (for the time being) a wired tank cover with clamps for no escapes, food and water dishes (stocked with food) 75 watt heat lamp (that was what we were told to buy him since hes small) and lizzard terrain liner. oh did i mention a leash for when hes older = D

i need some information and advice on taking care of "Suko"

things they like? dislike?
things i should/shouldnt feed him?
cage accessories?

anything you have!!

thanks so much for helping

He's probably about the size of my thumbnail. Really tiny, I think it still has some of its tail. Has some white on his underside but for the most part hes green. Hes got really long and sticky legs.lol They put it in a pickle jar with some water, grass, rock and sticks. He's been out of his home for about three days and I dont know if the water is fresh or not. I thought you were supposed to keep it in pond water but I'm afraid that they put fresh water in there. Anyway, I dont know if it's been fed over over the past three days or what. Can I feed it it fruit and veggies?

Last week, i bought my green snake from a petstore and a worker there told me to feed it small crickets....but the manager told me to feed it fish ( i forget which kind). Feeding fish is more comfortable for me, but if crickets are better than fish, i guess ill go with em. also, the worker said that i should feed it once a week.... does that sound kinda weird, or is it just me? ONCE A WEEK!? ,,, anyways, i hope you guys give good advice,,,:]

As of her last shed, my CalKing is 46" long! Yay! She's around five years old.
So, how much is she supposed to weigh? All the info I've ever found is "an overweight snake looks like and overtuffed sausage", which is no help. None of her bones are sticking out or anything, and she's not like grotesquely fat, but I just want to know if she should be eating more or not. She grows a good 3" every shed, more or less. When she's all coiled up, her skin is all wrinkly where she bends. Is she too flabby?
She's looked the same forever, she's not getting fatter or anything.
Right now I'm feeding her four hoppers a week, I've been feeding her that much for several months now.

Is there a chart or guide somewhere that I can use to see if she's a good weight?

Alright, so I get it that you should have both your u.v. lamp and basking light for your iguana. Well, I'm getting a baby iguana soon, and I'm wondering.. can I *just* use the heat lamp for now? I mean.. for now, its just going to be in an aquarium that isn't huge ...so... ?
