It does sound like algae. I own 4 and I take them out daily and examine them. If it is algae you should be able to gently grab and pull it off. Don't yank at it. Hold the turtle in your hand and run warm water over him and see if it moves away....Be careful not to drown him though....

no he is fine it sould be algae or died skin for when they shead
