Ok, So I have a 6 month old Eastern Painted turtle. Two days ago I started school so I can't keep his light on during the day because my mom calls it a "fire hazzard." I feel so bad and to make things worse, his UVB bulb quit producing the rays, and I won't be able to go get him a new one until saturday due to my busy schedule. He is still growing, but the very tip of his shell is flimsy (not good) and he is showing signs of pyramiding.I will admit I gave into his adorable begging, but when I first started noticing the signs of pyramiding I put my foot down and now he gets 3 pellets a day, and romane lettuce floating in his tank everyday which is gone by the time I get home.He has fish in with him, but shows no interest in them at all.Recently his belly started turning from yellow to pink, which concerned me about Septicemia. We took him to the vet and they did a blood test and everything is fine, now it is BLOOD red and he's not basking when the lights are on(he's not shy), what do i do?

I've had a bearded dragon for almost 4 years now. She used to shed a lot, but now it is down to 1-2 times a year, typically around the face or at the end of the tail. I've always noticed a little skin coming up around the eyes, but this time it's different. It's in more pices, and it sticks up more. It bothers her, and she is often scratching and rubbing her face up aganst something to get it off. I feel bad for her, so is there any way to help her get it off? I spritzed her with her misting bottle, but I don't know if that helped. I know you should give them a warm bath to loosen up skin, but since it's on her face I don't know what to do! Help!

I have recently purchased a small red-footed tortoise (4 " approx) and was sold a wooden viv, heat/basking bulb, florescent light, water bowl, hay pellets as a substrate and thermometers. I was advise to make a hide out of a shoe box and put in shredded newspaper (which my tortoise loves). To feed it fruit and veg and occasionally dog food or pinkies. Since been reading about the keeping of this species and I have changed the substrate to cyress mulch ( as seems to be recommended) and have changed the diet accordingly and purchased vitamin supplements too which i include now and again. Brought a cuttlefish bone, but are these ok for non-adult tortoises? Getting a hyrometer as was not advised about humidity and so spray the substrate daily to raise levels. Cannot find mazuri food which is recommended, so got another sort which is given in small amounts occasionally. Also got a reptile branch in basking area...please help with advice to make Redford a happier tortoise....

I was thinking about a Chilean Rose haired or a Pink Toed Tarantula, I have a 5 gallon aquarium, it's rectangle, is that big enough, and also, what else do I need for it? I may not get one, but if it seems like they are relatively easy to maintain, I may consider it.

I took these pictures. I'm pretty sure they're the same type of spider, and we;ve had LOTS of them running around our house recently. I think I may have been bit by a couple of them while asleep, so I'd like to know if they are poisonous or not, and what type of spider they are. Here are the pictures:

I have a Californian Kingsnake. It is about 7-10 months old. It has always been a great feeder, and I am currently feeding it large pinkies from Rodentpro.com. It can easily eat as many as four, twice a week.

How many pinkies do you think a snake of this age should be eating? What has your experience been with this or similar snakes (milk, corn etc)?

My turtles are about one inch each and i give them pellets, dried worms, small pieces of squid and lettece, i heard that they LOVE live worms but the petshop (where i bought them from) told me to avoid live worms because th turtles might swallow not chew it and there for the worm will be alive in its body causing a lot of problems to the turtle and sometimes it might kill it! is that true?
