I need to know if a black heat light bulb is fine for all hours?! Also i need to know if one dome suits the black bulb and a day bulb!! I also need to know because my 10-gallon tank is sitting right nex to the window and the leopard can get sunlight if so do i need a day light or just a black heat bulb?!!!! Help i'm getting a juvenile gecko! how many hours if so?

Leos don't need light, as long as you keep them well supplemented and provide a dish with calcium for them to lick.
At night, they only need a dark light if you want to see them move. But all they need is a heat mat for warmth in the tank..
Make sure you provide a moist hide, placed on top of the heat mat, for warm humidity too! And place teh heat mat under your newspapers, repti-carpet, or paper towels so the leos don't burn their skin

You can use a black or red bulb 24/7. Leopard geckos are nocturnal and won't really need a bright light during the day, they will hide in their cave or plant. This is also why a under-the-tank heater can be used.

No lighting is needed. They are nocturnal, which means they hide during the day and come out at night. They need belly heat to digest, so an under tank heating pad is necessary at one end of the tank. It must be temp regulated with a thermostat or dimmer switch. Temp on floor should be 88-91F. Move out of the window--it can overheat the tank. You can use a black light or red light to view him at night, but don't leave it on. For more gecko care info check out these sites:

i dont wanna sound mean but the tank should not be next to a window in any circumstance my freind lost hers becuse it got way to hot when she was a school. and if you get a black bulb it will be ok just make sure you can move the tank and open the blinds to get light into you room but always make sure if you want to leace it on it does not get to hot

people lie here. one time i ask how to get rid of wroms (for cats) and they told me the give my cat something that would of killed them if i did so. you should resurch better. good luck
