My anole got really sick and died. His face was all crusty (inside his mouth) and he very quickly got skinny. Was this a fungus and how can I prevent this from happening again? We have 1 more anole, he looks in good shape but will he get sick?

yeah, it sounds like he had a type of mouth fungus. When this happens, they stop eating. if you plan on getting another one, my advice to you is to clean the tank thoroughly and research anoles better. Oh yeah, be careful where you buy from; many places will sell you sick animals. learn to identify a sick anole so you can avoid them and get a healthy one. good luck with that, and I'm sorry to hear of your loss! =,[

You should make sure your anole gets plenty of rest and frequent checkups.

They need high basking temps, a UVB light source, high humidity, varied diet. Also, since most are wild captives, having a parasite check at the vets is very important.

Sounds like mouth rot. I would get your remaining lizard to the vet QUICK

You did not care for it properly, but without background info, I can't tell what you did wrong.
