Australians are only allowed to keep native wildlife to Australia. Quarantine is a big thing here and they due not want to introduce new diseases to our existing wildlife and also don't want non native wildlife escaping and becoming pests. Perth is the worst state to obtain wildlife as you cannot take Reptiles that aren't native to WA across the border from other states. But in NSW if you contact National Parks in NSW they can help you with what you need. It is hard to obtain wildlife in NSW though as the are one of the only states in Australia to not sell reptiles in petshops. With that in mind there are other ways such as the Herp Trader on the internet and also buying reptiles straight from breeders. There are plenty of positives though and once you get through all of this an obtain your licence it will be well worth it to obtain one of our many beautiful pythons as a pet for yourself. Goodluck.

Private citizens in Australia are not permitted to own non-native reptiles. Only licensed zoos and other licensed exhibitors. You can only own certain designated native species. There is a licensing system which you must apply for (60 dollars for 2 years in NSW if I recall). A level one license allows you to keep certain native species. There is a similar system in other states.

Contact National Parks in NSW. Here's the link
