Hi, I've had my male Leopard Gecko Huli for about four years now, and he's always been on the smaller side. Lately however I noticed he's been losing weight and shedding more frequently. I have been to a vet, who checked him out for parasites and said he was healthy. He isn't dangerously underweight, but his tail width is about 2/3rds the width of his head, and I understand that he should have more fat than that. He's been eating well, and I've been giving him extra waxworms, but he doesn't seem to keep it on. We have a new baby in the house, which causes alot of extra noise, so is it possibly stress related? If so, what should I be doing to increase his weight? Are there any special insects/foods which are high in fat besides waxworms? Also, I've heard alot of conflicting things about housing two male geckos together, and I'm interested in getting a second, but only if they can be housed together safely. Huli's welfare is the number one priority so I'd only do it if I was sure it's ok

Hi,I'm a total newbie. Still learning. Please don't burn me with evil flaming. ;.;

While I'm looking at all this information about these little guys,I found a breeder I'd like to deal with. Unfortunately,I've yet to see a website that talks about how tolerant they are with one another. Most likely I'd be getting 30 gallon long (36") or using a 29 gallon tank for this. Would three younger snakes get along together in there? How much larger of a tank should I be prepared to get as they get older?

I have also started feeding him one in the morning. Isn't 2 a day not good for him - he is about 8/9 weeks and just bigger then 50 pence coin. Swims fine. And i try to give him one pellet first then the second this way he eats them. He bites and wastes the third one. Is that good enough for him. And feeding once a day will that not be too less.

I got a yellow belly slider aquatic turtle last tuesday so just over a week - he seems used to his tank, eats and swims - does not seem to bask a lot whenever i see him. loves to stay behind the filter or the heater. My main question is is he lonely - he was the last one left at the pet shop and since they have not had any deliveries - now they say they have hatchlings which will take about 2 months to be ready to sell. He is also about 8-9 weeks. My only concern is I dont want him to be lonely and die. As i never wanted just a single one for this reason its just been due to supply. I am based nr Heathrow Airport and I got the turtle about 10 miles away for 10£ now the only places i can find is one place that is priced atleast double. Does anyone have a single turtle who has lived alone fine? thanks

on 3-20-07 i found a baby snake i did a little bit of research on snakes and it looks like a rattlesnake but it also has some characteristics of a gopher how do i no if it is one of them because i know that baby rattlers have no rattle on them yet until they shed. what should i do with it and should i handle it or not does it need water or can it go without for a day is it ok if it sleeps in a garage for one night or not.. just tell me some simple suggestions that have to do with snake handling and care.as you can probably tell this is my first snake and im kind of anxious.

My tarantula is a rose hair. It was never handled and I want to handle it but I don't want to get bit. Is there a way I should start out with getting it used to being handled?

I believe my dragon is shedding, but I want to make absolutely sure. He is a Chinese water dragon, and the top of his skin is flaky, but it's not coming off. The flaky area is somewhat brown, and is obviously coming off, but very slowly. He has been looking this way for about 2 weeks or so. He has gotten bigger since I got him, but this is the first time I have ever seen his skin do this, and I have had him for months without problems.

Some more background on the little guy....

He has a a lot of basking area with very warm temps (in the 90's). He has a ground temp of about 80-85. The other side of the tank is in the 70's or so. I mist him quite a bit throughout the day so his humidity should be good. He has a nice large pool to swim in, with filtration. I have reptile carpet as his substrate. He eats mostly superworms and crickets. I bought reptocal suppliment to coat his food in.

I have a murray short neck turtle who is about 16 months old now and i can't get him to eat, up until 2 days ago i couldn't stop him eating he would pinch all my other turtles food and eat that too. The water did become cloudy and acidic because the filter stopped working for a little while so im hoping thats all it was and he will get back to normal soon. I'm worried about him, he isn't swimming as quick as usual but he is still moving around. Any one know what could be wrong.

why the turtle will be placed up high for him to ADMIRE not play with or stick in his mouth like the "experts" said turtles carry salmonella and the "brainy acks" noticed my son is 1! Which is to young for a dog,cat,or any other animal...I know the risks and I also know that I will be the one taking care of it just as I am the one that takes care of my son and his well being!!!

My snake tried to eat her hopper sideway,from the belly.

She was opening her mouth so wide(wider than when she eats it head first) so i open the cage and she let it go.

Would that have hurt her if she would have ate is sideways?

He hits his left eye with his hands when he swims into the tank (by that i mean that like he is swimming into the glass of the aquarium). His legs and hands are healthy, but when he hits his eye, he squints and im afraid he will hurt himself. Is this normal and is there anything i can do to make him stop?

My friend has a Ball Python and about a 1 1/2 weeks ago he tried to feed it a smaller capped rat and he didnt eat it then today he tried to feed it a larger sized white rat. (both rats were alive) after a couple hours the rat wasn't eaten . My friend then "humanly" killed the rat and put it in the cage again to see if the snake would eat. the snake acted as if it was going to eat but didnt. The snake is 6 or 7 years old and very happy (from what we could tell). we know that he is hungry but he just wont eat. Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong?
