I changed my young tortoise's diet after doing some major research on sites such as sulcatastation, etc. and ordered the oxbow hay and grew some grass from seeds that I ordered off the internet. She has not touched her hay in over a week. I broke down from my "tough love" approach and gave her a piece of romaine lettuce and she ate it in about 2 minutes. I have tried wetting the hay down and other suggestions, but she refuses to each the hay or the weed sprouts. I need some fresh ideas.

I have two ball pythons, 4 and 5' long. Both used to be really healthy eaters but haven't eaten in about 5 months. They did however eat about 5 med size rats apiece in about 2 months 6 months ago ( I had an over abundance of rats!)
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciatged. They are both still real active and have shed a few times since they last ate, and seem to be healthy, just not eating.

1. i just purchased a new ball python, and because i haven't been bitten yet, i guess you could say i'm a little fidgety and scared. when i'm handling him, and he slithers away out of my hands, it's sort of intimidating to just pick him back up. would a ball python bite in this sort of situation? if he is trying to slither away and i pick him back up, would this aggravate him or is he just exploring?

2. the first time i'll feed him is in a couple of days. many websites say not to handle the snake for a couple days after feeding him, but to feed him in a separate container such as a tub or a box. how is the snake supposed to stay in that container for a couple of days without the heat lamp, uv lamp, etc.? to move him back to his cage, i will need to handle him.

help would be greatly appreciated.

We have a 2 year old heathly Ball. She is a sweetheart. The kids play with her at least once a day, more if I let them. But she seems so lonely in her cage, Do Ball Pythons need other balls to play with, or do you recommend breeding her and letting her keep one?
( assuming she's a girl, ha ha.) Let me know your experinces. No Rude commets please...thank you..

they are diamond back aquatic turtles. they feed in water only. of late too much green fungal /algee growth is there in the terratarium.i have put a 40 watt bulb to keep them warm. without that there is no growth but they feel cold and dont eat properly. the room temp in Jammu(india) is right now 15 degree celsius/60 degree F. what do i do? the algee is also growing on the turtles. (may be they are red eared sliders as they have red dots near their ears space area). i cleaned them today and put them in a dry tub and one has been sleeping soundly since then. what do i do? please guide and help!!! will they need water or do i keep them without it in winters ?

I live in Florida, so I expect snakes, but I would like to discourage the poisoneous ones from coming in my yard. Thankfully, the dogs went wild barking, so we knew it was there. I would hate for one of the kids to come upon one, or even my dogs to get bit. I heard that moth balls works. Is this true????

One opinion is that the Anaconda does not have powerful jaws & the other of coarse, is that it does.
Anacondas are powerful animals there is no question. However, it uses its strength (Its body) to coil & constrict its prey and then swallows it whole. Specifically, the power of the snakes jaws are in question.

My guess is that it really is no more than your typical adult German Shepard.

I have a turtle named Mikey that helps the NYPD fight crime on the weekends and was wondering if anyone knows of a bullet-proof vest manufacturer specifically for reptiles? Just last week he helped foil a plot to blow up the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hr. by some Islamic terrorists and I'm getting worried. Any thoughts on how I can help protect him while he's out there risking his tail for us? Thanks
