Outdoor ponds can be simple or elaborate. In most cases, a typical backyard pool will work just fine for your needs with a few minor details:
1. Prevent escapes and predator attacks with a wall around the pond area. A fence simply won't work as well- turtles burrow under or push through fences (and can become injured trying to push through them.) Also- remember that raccoons and such will try to eat your captive pets, so try to keep them away as well. Some people put netting over the pond at night.
2. Offer a good beach area, and several good in-pool basking sites.
3. With live animals, you'll have to take into account their wastes. Live plants and snails, etc. will help, but not do it all. Either plan for filtration or water changes.
4. This can be tough, but make sure there are no places a turtle can become trapped in the pond!
The COOLEST option I have seen was a waterfall/fountain on the south side of a house (which was also part of the aeration and filtration system), and a pen that used the house for one wall. The fountain/fall went into a nice, big pool. The surrounding walls allowed a nice beach on one side of the pool, and the walls themselves were basically big boxes. Some of the boxes were planters, others were seating and storage cubbys.

DeadDude and Dion are precise on the money. What you probably did replaced into quite irresponsible, and your turtles have an exceedingly low hazard of survival. in the event that they're fortunate, they'll die straight away, perhaps hit via a vehicle or eaten via something. in the event that they're unlucky, perhaps they're going to freeze to death, or worse, get picked up via another newborn who will stuff them in an unheated tank the place they'll slowly, painfully die from detrimental food and shortage of UVB over the subsequent three hundred and sixty 5 days or 2. Sounds relaxing, does not it? family contributors pets might desire to under no circumstances be released into the wild. people stay interior the wild certainly. What in the adventure that your parents basically threw you out interior the chilly to fend for your self? might desire to you come across heat temperature and look after and seize food after having all of it dropped at you on your finished existence? How long might YOU final? possibly not long. i know that's not the convenience you have been desiring, yet that's actuality. next time, please do your examine till now getting any puppy, and know what you're entering into till now you bounce head first. A busted tank is a tragic excuse. With some subject-unfastened experience and the skill to determine an undemanding care instruction manual, this finished challenge might have actual been prevented.

Outdoor ponds are a great enclosure for pond turtles. Make sure you have plenty of room, because you have several different species so they might become territorial. Make sure you have a very efficient pump and filter, in my pond I have a UV light filter which cycles the water past the light and kills algae and other microbes, it works great. Be sure to have several basking areas for the different species and provide plants for food. Putting in logs is a great way to provide a good habitat but it also helps the water as well; by putting in logs and allowing them to decay, they reduce the acidity of the water and make it alkaline- very good for your turtles. Remember this, a brown, tea color is good. Green is bad.

decide on a good area that will be sunny, build a fence out of landscape timbers stacked log cabin style and install a pre-formed pond in the center, add filtration or clean regularly, plant the surrounding area for shade, make hiding houses and ramps
to get out of the pond and you should be in business
