I need some help from someone who has ever had an escapee...My snake got out of his enclosure on Friday night....I haven't been able to find him since...I looked in every spot u could think, and then some...any tricks to find him? I am worried about him. I tried a mouse, I tried soak bowls, I tried sitting up late and turning out the lights....but he is stubborn, if he has found a spot, I don't think he will come out for awhile. He loves the cold more than heat, he's weird I guess....so heat sources won't work....any ideas? I call this Operation find Draco...

He's a young (~5 inches) red-eared slider. He's missing 3 claws on one foot, 2 on the other and 1 on his front foot. The other front foot is fine. We've had him for two weeks. My gf got him from Petco where she works. He was dropped off by someone who didn't want him anymore. At Petco, he was put into a tank with 8 large turtles. That may have been when he lost those claws. We keep him in a 5 gal. tank by himself now. We just noticed this tonite. He doesn't seem to be in any pain, but I'm no turtle expert. He's eating (goldfish and pellets) and swimming fine. He's pretty active and feisty when we handle him. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I have two snakes and I haven't seen them out of their 'caves' or out from under their bedding. I've never kept any during the winter. Do snakes hibernate? Do I wake them up to get them to eat?

I have pet turtles I have had for about 21 years, they are doing great and perfectly healthy however they are outgrowing the house, I don't feel it's fair to keep them cooped up. I won't let them go in the wild or give them to just anyone. Does anyone know of any reptile conservation type place I can take them to? Possibly around kentucky.

I'm kind of in a hurry, so I'll have to type this quickly. Let me know if you need any additional details.
I read an article about the abundance of chameleons in Florida causing a problem. I attend a school in eastern Kansas, and our Biology room would gladly take in some of these if we had any means of getting to them. I've been brainstorming and thought maybe we could connect with a school in the affected areas of Florida and try to get some shipped to us. We'd be happy to pay for shipping, etc... any ideas on how to go about this?
Thanks in advance.

I'm about to get my first reptile - a cornsnake, which I've heard is the best place to start as far as snakes go. I've heard from a lot of places that its best to feed them pre-killed mice which you buy frozen & then thaw out. But what about feeding it live mice? It would seem to me that a snake would be happier with a live mice since I believe that that instinct to prey on live animals for food would still be within him/her. What about feeding pre-killed mice for the most part - but once in awhile throw in a live mouse? If a snake got used to live food - would it then be impossible for it to ever go back to pre-killed food? Thanks!

I have a boa constrictor and I need to get her a new vivarium. All the proper vivariums I've seen are quite expensive. I'm looking for one which is reasonably priced.

thanks
