My husband says they'll be ok for 4 days before a friend can come over to give them crickets and check thier water. Is this true or should we put a bunch of crickets in and extra water?

Don't worry about it. It would actually survive fine without both for 4 days(given that it is at least a few months old). You can put a bunch of extra crickets and maybe an extra watering hole(like the lid of a jar) just to be sure.

Just make sure you keep the temperatures normal in the house. One of my friends went on vacation and thought about the extra food and water, but didn't consider temperature and shut off his heater while he was gone. The digital thermometer said the low got to 43 degrees in the house which would kill a leo pretty quick.

They will be fine with out food or water for 4 days. You can get some "Easy Water" from PetCo or PetsMart. It is jelled water, and will last for the whole time you are gone, or you can get a water bottle and hang it over the side. With the crickets, I wouldn't put a lot of them in there with them because crickets do bite, and if you put too many in there, they could possibly start biting the gecko and cause sores.

absolutely no problem. i wouldnt give them "bunch of crickets" actually because the long-uneaten crickets would annoy them (like climbing on them, scratching with their little feet) they can even nibble at the geckos when they sleep. especially small (young) crickets are this bad! I would give them enough water (i dont mean a bowl big enough to get them drowned, though) i would give two water dishes just in case and check the heating setting and enjoy the holiday.

They can survive 4 days without crickets, but probably not without water.

Nooooooooooo problem. Just make sure there is sufficient fresh water. Leopard gecko's don't need to eat every day: twice a week is more than sufficient. Relax and have a happy holiday. Your question just reminded me to attend to my own leopard gecko...!

I would add a little extra water, but they should be okay.
