I have a Dumeril's boa. She's nearing 2 feet now. I use reptibark, and haven't had any problems with it yet. Just spot clean and mist once a day. I've heard that aspen bedding is more absorbent and somewhat cleaner. I guess you'll just have to try one and the other and see which you like better.

I use aspen and newspaper.
Newspaper is easy to clean and free if you pick up those free classified papers. The only problem is it is not very absorbent and any poop or water spills will make a real mess if not cleaned promptly and the snake crawls through it. The ink will rub off on the snake, giving it a "dirty" appearance, especially on light colored or albino snakes, unless you can get unprinted paper from your local newspaper office.
Aspen is good - absorbent, keeps any smell down, and is fairly cheap if you buy the big compressed bales at Petco, PetSmart or other big pet supply chains or a herp expo. If you only have one small enclosure, a bale will last a long time and costs around $15. Do not use pine or cedar as they have oils in them that can be toxic to snakes.

I used to, and I have worked in the pet trade for years. Aspen is fine, and they can bury into it. Calci sand is fine and colorful. Eco Earth, that comes in the blocks that you add hot water to and it expands is good too. I never liked reptibark, as I have heard many occasions where that type of bedding carried mites, as I don't believe it is heat treated to kill parasites. Carpet is ok, but hard to clean and I never liked it personally. Just always be sure that you feed your snake in a different enclosure than where he lives, and make sure there is no bedding in it, so that it doesn't ingest bedding while eating. Snakes are great pets! :-)

I just switched to Aspen. I like it because it holds the humidity quite well and my ball python can burrow in it. The only thing I don't like is how quickly she gets it packed down and the heat from her uth can't get through as well. All you have to do is loosen it up a bit and you're good to go.
P.S. Don't use sand. It is very abrasive and not good for snakes.

It is easier to clean. I however use ecoearth. It spot cleans, holds better humidity and is good for forest burrowing snakes like kings and corns. You only need to replace the ecoearth every six months. I have 1.1 pair of high white kings, 1.1 pair of albino kings, a male lavender king, a het pied male ball python, 1.1 pair of ball pythons, a male hondo milk, and a male albino corn snake. Ecoearth has worked really well for all my snakes including Burmese and red tails.

Aspen is fine, as is newspaper. I like to use cypress mulch personally because it retains moisture and does not mold. Just be sure to avoid pine and cedar, as their resins are toxic to most reptiles.
