i have to take my cavy to petsmart tomorrow.. i'm still within my 14 day window from his adoption.. he got a URI and i need him to be on antibiotics. i wasn't aware of them getting sick after pet store adoptions, so i wasn't financially prepared. thankfully, they are obligated to treat him since it is within that 14 day window... but someone today told me that some vets will kill the animal because it is more expensive to treat him than it is to replace him.... please tell me this isn't true! i'm so scared! i don't have much of a choice though! i have to work 13 hours tomorrow, and i can't take him. i have to let petsmart take care of him....

I got my ferret from a petstore when she was a kit- a few weeks old, and have never been able to get her to eat anything besides her dry ferret food- not even baby food.....wondering if this is the norm? She is 4 months old now.

I LOVE animals....and sometimes I see sick and injured animals that are being held captive or chained. I finally decided that if I had the opportunity, I would easily steal one of these animals and take them to the vet or a responsible shelter. I believe that I am an honest person with values. Stealing is stealing....but in a situation like this....what would you do?

Hello, I came across this picture some time ago and I was wondering, what type of breed is this? I was thinking maybe the rabbit is a Netherland Dwarf, but the ears seem to long for its breed. I'd appreciate if you can answer, thanks.

Here's the picture: (Rabbit 1) http://www.gotpetsonline.com/pictures-gallery/small-animal-pictures-breeders-babies/rabbit-pictures-breeders-babies/pictures/rabbit-0073.jpg

Oh yeah, it'd help if you can tell me what this is too (maybe Satin Angora?):
(Rabbit 2)

OR (I think both of these are the same.. )

and (same owner)

Anyways, I'm mainly looking for rabbit 1. Thanks a lot if you can help me with rabbit 2.
Looking forward to replies.

You know, the small rat-like creature with long nose and a thin body that doesn't take rat baits? I think it got into my house by mistake. Anyway, please give some ideas. Any professional pest controllers?

My rabbit NEEDS to be spayed. She is aggressive and can be a big brat sometimes. She also humps the poor cat :/ I have tried very hard to find a place around chicago for her to get spayed and find the best price. Any ideas? So far I found a place for 90 dollars. Anywhere cheaper?

I just heard of walking stick bugs today and have been researching the different types of bugs that people keep as pets ever since (for about two-three hours now-lol!!)...I've been looking for the right new pet for awhile (I already have a cat and two hamsters...I'm getting hermit crabs...but still I had ALOT of "farm" pets growing up and having so few now makes me feel incomplete...)
what are some awesome "small-space" insect pets (i know that there are 3000 types of Walking Stick Bugs)?
How do you care for them and what are the average costs of them?
Whats a good site for someone interested insect pets?
I'm not saying I'll get one but when I hear things like this I just have to research it to know if it's right for me...after about 6 months of researching I may get one, but I never get a pet -ANY PET- without doing at least 6 months of research before hand...
any help appreciated!

My dog loves it. She actually starts looking for it when ever I pull a pen out of my pen holder. She will run herself crazy just trying to get it. I will put it up midway on my wall and watch her jump for it. And when she's had enough, I'll let her think she eat it!! Then she spends the next five minutes walking around looking for it! Any one else have any funny stories??

So here's the deal...i have a 12 yr old lab that had surgery monday night to remove a corn on the cob that got stuck in her intestine...She's been at the vet since. We expected to take her home tonight but the vet says it may be a good idea to keep her there longer because she's not eating yet. When me and my mom went to visit her last night, she ate some chicken and rice they said to bring her. She's been on IV to rehydrate her and she's been having diarhhea, which they said is good. She's on heavy pain medication and when we went to visit her last night she was really doped out and out of it. They said she is in good physical condition for her age, and that she looks great.
It costs a lot of money to keep her there everyday...hundreds. And I'm wondering if the vet is just trying to get more money out of us...Maybe if we brought her home today she would feel more at home and begin to eat? I want your opinion please. What do you think i should do?

Okay, i know this seems stupid and you may just want to say ' duh that's why theres dog food and cat food' but the deal is this cat in my neighborhood had babies last week and it's a stray. i only have a dog and cannot afford to buy the mother proper food. so if i feed her the dog food will it hurt her or her babies? what else can i feed her to help keep them healthy?
