your pet suddenly died? I know it must be devastating... but could you ever get over it? I've always wanted a pet, but couldn't have one because of the conditions in the place where I live... plus, my mom is always hesitant to get us one because she's afraid of how we would handle it if he died...
I can sort of understand, because this saloon I used to go to had this big, lovable German shepherd and she was like the owner lady's little kid... I got so used to seeing her there every month, and suddenly on one visit, she was missing, and the owner told us she died, and she had tears in her eyes... That was very upsetting. So, do you think the death of a pet will upset one as much as the death of a family member? Should this fear of death discourage me from getting a pet if I ever move and get my own place?

My neighbours pet rabbit has been running free off and on for about a year now and occasionly he comes into my garden (Which i don't mind). On the last occasion he came for a visit, he was in my garden for over a week and not once did my neighbours come to check on him or feed him etc.

The same thing has happened again this week and i noticed this morning that he is now half the size he was. Do you think i should ring the RSPCA for advice/report them as i am worried that they are not looking after him or am i overreacting ( my boyfriend thinks i am!).

I'm just curious as to what website/store you use to purchase your rabbit products- cages, hay, feeders, show supplies ect.

Also, if you use a pedigree program, which one?

As soon as I found out hay is good for rabbits, I tried encouraging him to eat more. He eats his pellets, drinks water, & loves his veggies. He'll only eat it if I actually stick it into his mouth or wave some in his face. Is there any way to make the hay more appealing to him? (I've tried Kaytee & some from a feeder.)

Ok my dogs killed this whole rabbit family. Luckily we saved one. The only problem is we cant get it to eat. We are using the formula stuff, and well that is pretty much all it can eat since it is so young. So please help someone.

I dont really like history but its filled with movements like womens rights and such. Well I'm in favor of a Non-human Animal Rights movement. humans are so annoying and think they'r all that just because we have more brain power (how do we even know that we could just be so stupid that we dont even realize how smart other animals are!) So back to the topic. I'm tiered of humans poor treatment of other animals! TIME FOR A NEW MOVEMENT SAYS I, WHO'S WITH ME!?!?!?!??!

I got my young gerbil about two or three months ago. He has been fine with his bedding for a while. But all of a sudden he seems to not like it and sleeps completely without out it, underneath him is just the glass of the aquarium. I thought about getting him ceder or alpine sheddings, but my dad said that kind was bad for him. I don't know what to do!?!?!?

So I'm going to start my Ana/Physio classes soon, and I'm looking for some good books/resources.

I already have:

- Mosby's Comprehensive Study Guide
- The Ninth Edition of The Merck Veterinary Manual
- My textbooks

I'm looking for:

- Any other great books that I can purchase either online or at the bookstore
- Any good anatomy based flash cards, charts, or books (ranging from pocket-pets/exotics, to domestic animals - large/farm animal related books a plus but not my concentration)
- Some good medicine/pharmacology charts, urinalysis & hematology information, dentistry and zoonosis books/sites/resources.

Help a girl out! ;))

I have four male rats in a five foot Martin cage. They are between 8-9 months old. They get along fine when I am in the room or in hearing distance (as they would get yelled at if they bicker). But when I am away, they are fighting.

There is one rat that is getting the worse of it, the latest wound really scared me - a deep cut on the cheek/jaw - if it had a half inch lower on the neck it would have be a disaster. One rat that is completely uninvolved and there are two big alpha-type rats that the smaller beatup one seems to challenge.

What should I do? Pull out the one rat from the pack? Split them two -two (which)? Neuter one (which) or all?

Thanks for any expert advice.

I had my Guinea Pig for exacactally 2 months, she just recently passed away because she was sickly, probably from birth. That's what the vet told me. The poor thing just passed away on the examination table. My main concern now is buying another Guinea Pig, I'm so scared that I might get one that's already sick, Guinea's as I know can hide their sickness very well, I need to know how to choose the right Guinea Pig for me. I unfortunately have a tendency of comparing my new pet with my passed one, and I don't want to make that mistake. How do I know if it's underweight for it's age? how can I know the age if even the petstore doesn't? you don't have to answer all the questions, just the ones you know, I would really appreciate any advice I can get, thank you.

i saw someone wrote a similar question to mine before but they didnt really get a good answer. so i'll ask it again. Well i'll tell you my story. I am currently minding a horse for a friend. So I decided to go for a ride one afternoon last week. I decided to go bareback cause i knew I would not be out for long. As I was on my trail, I bumped into a walker, she had to squeeze by me cause the track is narrow. As she went by me she said to me. Do you know what you are doing is cruel to that horse. So I replied how?, She then said for starters that horse riding is cruel full stop. Then she said that because I am riding bareback, i am hurting the horse more. She said that the seams from my Levis are constantly rubbing off the poor horse as she said. I told her that it was nonsense and that I do it all the time. When she left, I was thinking she could be right. When I looked down at my legs and thighs I could see they do rub thehorse but I thought the horse skin was thick. Is this woman right

You know that one of your pets did get out of their cages, while you went to the store, but since none of them are talkin'...what are you gonna do?
Who drew a lovely characture of you? and then put underneath it.."I am a cutie pie!"
Which ferret of yours got into the bathtub and played soap hockey with the cat?
Which of your "sweet lilttle innocent doggies" is pooping around the house, in each room, and in one or two of your new shoes, marking his "areas"? Hmmm?
What mouse has run away from home, and you aren't sure if he or she, ran under the stove or outside?

what kid in your family let the ants out of their ant farm...and now you are itching like mad?

anybody have some reasonable and creatively clever and hilarious answers?

I would love to "read" them! LOL!

I really do, my grandfather, who is terminally ill was with our dogs for a week and has this glow about him now. He fed them leftovers all week, :-( (now they won't eat their dog food.)

I really feel like they are very special companions and help those who can't go out much. What do you think?

i have a rabbit and we keep its rabbit food inside an old, large popcorn container. recently, though, i discovered small brown tick-like "bugs" inside the container. i left it alone and did not feed it to my rabbit that day. the next day i opened it again and found less "bugs," but to my discovery i found small holes drilled into the pellets of the rabbit food. i'd like to know what kind of possible "bug" this is, if it's still safe for my rabbit to eat, and how to prevent future infestations.

I would normally ask my vet, but it's after hours.....
I have a cat, 2 APBTs, 3 6-week old pups, a min pin, and a gerbil. I bought some flea bombs, and my boss gave me some Frontline Plus, and told me it would be alright to put it on the min pin, the cat, and the big dogs.The problem is that I'm a bit uncomfortable about quite a few things;
1) Is it okay to put a tiny bit of the Frontline for dogs on my cat? The package says not to, but my boss said it would be okay, and that she puts it on all of her cats, and she hasn't ever had any problems, but I'm still hesitant....
2) What about my gerbil? Can he get fleas too?
3) Is it okay to put the Frontline on the lactating APBT? The package says to ask a vet. Both her and her pups are very healthy. They are almost entirely on puppy food, but they still nurse a little bit.
4) Finally, what do I do about the puppies? I've considered using a citrus shampoo, but I want something that will prevent reinfestation...

Thank you all very much!!!
