Other - Pets - May 2007

My dorm doesn't allow, pets, but over the summer I really want to get a pet rat, I've been reading up all the info on the net about them. I've known other kids who keep, hamster and lizards. They rarely do random dorm searches. I'm in campus housing, buy not the major campus rooms, more like the upperclassmen dorms. I mean if they keep tons of Liqour and beer.
What's wrong with me keeping one little rat? Am I wrong?

Laughing for humans is sometimes an involintary action. Since humans are animals, I was wondering if other animals laugh or giggle somehow. I was thinking that if humans do it naturally, other animals can do it too.
I'm not talking about a dog "smiling", or a cat purring.
What other animal has the brain capacity to see humor in life?

I'm thinking about getting a rabbit, can someone tell me a little about them? Do they bit all the time? Do they carry any diseases or germs? I have a 2 yr old daughter so I want to get a pet thats safe for her, and we have a apartment so I really don't want a dog. Any info would be great! Thanks!

My cavy is realy weak and some mucus stuff on his eyes whitch wouldn't open. He wouldn't eat, drink, or even make a sound. What is wrong with my cavy?

I was told I had 2 females and after the babies were born I discover I didn't. I separated them but they are trying to eat the cage. I got two to keep them together. I was told I could "fix" the male, but I have called different vets and they don't do it.
Is this a lost cause??

She lives on a big property in a paddock right next to the forest and has done for 7 yrs, but only now is there a problem.
I bathe her eyes in warm salty water 2-3 times a day with a clean cloth each time for each eye, but lately her left eye has become swollen. She can only half open her eye, but its still weeping... help? She looks very uncomfortable but i dont know what to do next. What could it be? Could it be conjunctivitis? Any advice as to how to battle it?

my parents said i need a non stink animal.(eg. Hamsters,rabbits,chinchilla,mouse.) Like lizards. But i was going to get a chameleon but all the stuff you need to take care of it cost too much $! Do you know any other non stink animals?

She is a rabbit around 8 or 9 years old. And is kept on a varied diet from banana's to carrots, and has time outside and in. she seems unconfortable. any advice on how to get it to go away? ( i'm afraid i'd hurt her if i tried to scrub it off.)

I have a bunny that I've had for about a year. She is boxed trained, so she is free to roam around the house. But she is super jumpy, and won't let us pet her very often. We got her when she was 2 years old and she lived in a cage all the time.

Then we have another bunny, we got her about 6 months ago. This one is super social and very friendly.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or suggestions to get my first bunny to stop being such a wierdo.

So here is the problem, my horse starts chasing you as soon as you're in the roundpen and trying to get him going with the whip. He jums up, and starts coming on you, the whole challenging game. People keep saying that i have to smack him till he stops doing it and starts going in the pen, but i think there might be a better solution?
