no one is mentioning the pet food recalls nor the deaths that was unnecessary because of China's poisoning our pets. Is anyone on Yahoo going to sue the pet food companies too? or has everyone forgotten their poor dead pets already?

My 3 month old male kitten is always sooo bored and I sometimes do not have enough time to dedicate to him. He's bored with all the toys I've bought him and I'm not getting any other pets due to my time restraints, so that will not work as far as giving him company. I considered getting him some small mice from the pet store to chase around so he can be entertained. I figured that he may eventually kill them though, which makes me feel kind of guilty, but I just want him to have fun be as much of a cat as he can. :-(

Please tell me:
Do you think I should get him some mice to chase around?
Do you think that is unethical?
Do you think it is dangerous to my kitten's mental or physical health?
Have you ever done this?

I just need some opinions because I can't afford to get an autopsy from the vet. I just found him 20 minutes ago. Nothing was broken as far as I could tell and there were no bite marks. He had fresh bright blood trickling from his nose. He was still a little bit limber so I'm guessing he died maybe 3 to 4 hours ago. I don't think he was poisoned or that it was his food because he hsan't been acting funny and I know he wasn't hit by a car because he was inside the fence. If you can think of anyhting it might be let me know. He was only 3.

I am truly an animal lover. I always have been, and my love for animals just seems to grow the older I get. When I was a child my parents let me have two dogs, two cats, hampsters, fish, and a rabbit. I was so happy, but it was never enough! Now that I am grown and married we have 7 dogs and one cat. We adopted most of them from the human society. My husband loves animlals too, but we don't have a big enough house to get any more. (its already pretty cramped!) I can't stand to see a stray animal without a home, or an animals being chained in someone's yard. I just want to take them home with me. It sometimes gets to a point when I feel I could cry I feel so bad for a homeless animal. I was just wondering if anyone else feels like this, or has any suggestions on how I could cope with this. I think my husband will kill me if I bring another animal home! thanks!

I let her out of her cage while I am at home, but while I'm at school she bites on the bars of her cage and just sits there. What can I give her to play with ? (besides another rabbit, my dad would not like that)

ive had her since i was 12 and she's 18 right now but in really really good shape. shes really low maitence and isn't spooky and she's really good about going to new places (i just moved her to a new ranch for the first time in 10 years, just in april, and she's fine). but im graduating next month and im going to oregon and can't afford to take her with me. i want her to go to someone who will love her and keep her safe. theres a twelve year old girl who used to lease her who cried when i moved her from the ranch, and i could give her to her. but then my friend's grandparents own a ranch really close by and they would take her until i came back in 2 years to get her. cons: if i gave her away to the girl, i would never see her again and her training might hit the floor (i take her 3'3, pretty good for being 14hh and 18). if i put her on my friend's ranch, she might get hurt or she'll get really fat and spoiled or bored. this is like a really big deal to me. any advise would be good.

My hamster was a Russian Dwarf, and she died at 3 years old. Is this normal or was she younger or older than normal? She had no health problems, except she had a back leg amputated when she was a baby. (She was climbing on her wire cage, fell, and nearly tore off her leg and crushed all the blood vessels in that leg, which stopped her from bleeding to death.) She was never bred, and only had very brief contact with other hamsters. Thanks!

We recently got 2 gerbils. We got 1 early in the day and went back for a friend for #1. Before we got #2, #1 let us hold her and play with her. Now they both run away when we reach in the cage and one even bit me so hard I bled and have a bruise. Any ideas why?

Assume that everyone in the world -- well, let's say everyone in the USA anyway -- was going to hear what you were going to say. What would you want them to know about caring for or respecting animals?

Personally, I'd tell everyone NOT to chain their dogs in the yard 24/7. Dogs NEED to be with their people!! Why bother to HAVE a dog if you are just going to ignore him??

And if I could say something else, I'd try to make people understand that MOST animals need company of their own kind. Rats need rats. Kittens need kittens. Mice need mice. Goats need goats...etc. There are a few exceptions -- male mice, perhaps, and some types of hamsters, but for the most part, animals are MUCH happier with companions. Dogs can do well with a human companion but even they might be happier with another dog around.

What would YOU tell everyone?

I got a hamster recently and they've been acting very healthy so far. But, I'm scared for their health because my mom won't let me bring them to the vet. What will happen if I don't bring them to the vet? Note that I'm the one who WANTS to take them to the vet and my mom is the one who DOESN'T want to take them to the vet. Also she says that they're like 300-500 dollars an appointment, is that really true because I doubt it.
